吃好。于是自始至终嘴就没闲着。饱了累了，出来走走。70多度，城市上空含混着河水
的腥腻、烘干机的燥涩、虾蟹的鲜香和阴沟的腐败气息。那是一个萎靡、慵懒、颓唐、
暧昧、怡然自得的地方。
Day 1
早饭后备马出发，一路无话，只是中途在Mississippi的Meridian休息半小时。这个
Meridian内战时被美国历史上最大的纵火犯Sherman烧成白地，如今放眼看去，仍旧破
破烂烂，跟刚烧过没什么两样。傍晚抵达New Orleans，夕阳下雾霭蒸腾，车过长桥，
仿佛要一直开到云端去。
旅馆在French Quarter。办完入住手续，把行李往地板上一扔，匆匆出来觅食。街道狭
窄潮湿，两侧多是Creole风格的排屋，二层露台挤满酒客，或倚或坐，纹脉繁琐的铸铁
栏杆上挂着碧绿的盆花。渐近Bourbon Street，音乐和人声愈发嘈杂。可怜我两个平时
连汽车喇叭都很少听到的农村小娃东张西望地走，经常一脚踩进油汪汪的水坑里。

酒店的早餐品类丰盛，少长咸宜，不是普通的continental，全家吃得欣然自足。接下
来整整一上午都给了Audubon Aquarium，娃们大呼小叫，如鱼得水。中饭在food court
凑合了一顿，立刻赶到隔壁的IMAX Theater看3D电影Under the Sea。
同属Audubon Nature Institute的Insectarium是当天的压轴戏。孩子东摸摸西碰碰，
津津有味。中段有个小厨房，一位瘦高的师傅就地取材，精心料理，游客可免费品尝
Fried Southwest Waxworms，Crispy Cajun Crickets，Six-Legged Salsa，Hoppin’
Herb Dip等等。我问儿子敢不敢试试，他坚定地摇头。女儿插话道，呆爹你怎么不吃？
我说呆爹喜欢medium的，这些显然已经well done了。请虫子大厨指点附近的Cajun或
Creole餐馆，他毫不犹豫地推荐Mulate’s。又咨询甲壳类展台的姑娘，她一边抚摸手

听coalpilerd贴的《You Raise Me Up》，想起以前讨论过福音歌、黑人歌。考古找到
不少歌，就单独开个帖。
我第一次听的You Raise Me Up是Westlife的版本，想当然地以为是教会福音歌。
karoun说不是，福音音乐来源于黑人音乐，而You Raise Me Up是爱尔兰民歌。歌词里
的在我受挫、低落时陪伴、支持我的你，既可以指世俗的父母、爱人，也可以指宗教的
上帝、神灵。宗教场合也会唱这首歌，算是从世俗走入教堂的例子吧。

另有一首走向相反、从教堂步入世俗的歌是Amazing Grace，歌词是18世纪的英国诗人

New Orleans很不错
刚刚从New Orleans回来。这个地方曾经是法国殖民地，也是签署louisiana purchase
的地方。
Mississippi很漂亮（当然如果仔细看也是黄泥汤）。住的地方Fairmont Hotel是全面
法国格调，我住的suite还有internet，呵呵。
很impressive的就是french quater几乎街上所有的bar都是live music，有些jazz bar
的音乐很好听。不过如今，虽说是jazz的发源地，hard rock也越来越多了。周末晚上
的疯狂气氛实在是和费城有恍若隔世的感觉。
Royal Street上有很多antique store，里面的东西也算千奇百怪了，中世纪的盔甲，
中东的武器，各种老式火枪，非洲打猎的trophy，什么鹿角鹿皮做的椅子，斑马皮水牛

就整装待发, 这个装就是带上武器, 发的地点不是停车场就是偏僻的巷口. 不知到底有多
少人会在那天被抢, 听说一对夫妇一天被抢了两次, 好在第一个贼比较知足,没有拿光他
们所有的钱. 我们没有被抢过, 不过Mardi Gra 一次之后从此也不敢去了.
现在Catrina一淹, 很多人都对New Orleans城里发生的打劫放火的行为表示难以置信. 实
际上自从六七时年代以后, New Orleans 的风貌就每况愈下了: 有钱人逐渐搬离, 医院,
学校等等福利设施等一落千丈. 游客们住在FRENCH QUARTER的酒店里当然不会看到它的落
败,也根本就不想去关心. 不然就不难发现Garden District 豪宅 附近的平民,生活条件
根本就不比阿富汗强到哪里; 在Vieux carre 的救济房从Canal Street 就能走到. 当年
有人统计过IBERVILLE HOUSING 计划的住户年平均家庭收入: 七千二百块. 想不到吧,

这几天特别冷，晚上不到40度。这样的话，在new orleans我就冻死了，都得开暖气。
行李都在路上，没带厚衣服，担心的要命。结果发现根本不冷。
晚上睡觉在气垫床上可能有点冷，但是睡在地上盖条很薄的被子居然都觉得热。
觉得不可理解。这和空气中的水分有关吗？
本来应该南方湿润，可是我在new orleans的时候嘴唇总是起皮干裂。在philly居然变
得柔软起来了。

New Orleans is one US city that I really wouldn't mind settle down.
I am a country boy by nature, and hate busy city life in general.
New Orleans is very city, however very slow. It does have a large
area of walkable downtown, unlike many southern cities that were

New Orleans游记
第一次写游记,有点罗嗦,请见谅.照片就是用的最普通的数码相机,不是那种高级的,就
凑活看吧.
原先没有出行的打算,后来又临时决定要放松一下.出远门没有戏了，只能在开车在周围
溜达了。去什么地方呢？LG打开地图,以我们所在的城市为圆心,以500Mile(一天的路程
)为半径花了一个圆,看看圆里还有什么地方可去. 最后我们选定了New Orleans.
看看BBS,最近关于NO的游记几乎没有. NO是不是还泡在水里? 而周围的地方或者无趣,
或者已经拜访过,没有更好的选择了.我们还是义无反顾地踏上去NO的路程.
Day 1
一大早从家出发,到下午4:00的时候终于来到了ＮＯ．我们走的是I10, 快到NO, 两边有
无数被遗弃的房子, 显然是Katrina的后果.
我们住的地方是Marriot, 4 star, LG在Priceline拍的, $65一晚, 不过我觉得还是贵

载了Dec20 1803交接土地的时候, 法国代表把城市钥匙给了美国人，双方代表签署的文

share，因人家临时决定去new orleans，和另两个韩国gg一起驱车13小时来到new
orleans，订不到旅馆了，怎好拒绝人家？再说大家都是穷学生，能省点就省点吧，于
是我们就答应了。
结果这几晚上，那韩国mm的鼾声没把我的耳朵振聋就已经够可以的了，虽然我每天穿的
人模人样惦着一高跟鞋马不停蹄的奔走于各大酒店，累的半死，一回到自己的酒店就恨
不能倒头就睡，可是那震天的鼾声让我如何也睡不着，每天早起后头疼欲裂。。。真是郁闷
教训：以后坚决不再让人一起share了，自己自费就是再贵也要一人一间。
另外，看人真的不能只看外表，有些人外表光鲜，没想还有这等让人尴尬的秘密，那韩
国mm是不化妆不出门的，平时看着也还娇小玲珑的，嗨 |

的建筑很有欧陆风格和南美风格，很漂亮，刚回来后查了一下历史，果然是有法国和西
班牙遗风。既然是少了现代的繁华气息，有些地方不免就有些破败，街道狭窄，而且破
旧，一到晚上黑gg的吆喝声不断，两旁的流浪汉也是很多，不时问人要跟烟或是一刀或
是吃的（我外出晚餐回来两次都遇到了）。那几天很多人脖子上挂满了各式各样金光闪
闪的项链，不知道是不是又有什么Carnival在上演,或许在new orleans，天天都有
Carnival.
所以可以预见的，警察和警车也是很多，三步一岗五步一哨，刺耳的警笛时而可以听见。
不仅是晚上，白天也是如此；不仅是在French Quarter,在光鲜繁华热闹的dowttown
Canal Street更是如此。在那里两天就老见警车出动，而且是由警车和摩托组成的车队
。不知道是否是因为那几天有盛大的社科类的年会还是在New Orleans一贯如此。和朋
友说起，朋友就答：This is in New Orleans！
还有那里的出租车也是各式各样，什么大黑卡车，破吉普 |

听说德州的车价税率比较路易斯安娜的低且质量好（New Orleans的路实在很坑爹）。
想听听大家的意见。个人想从dealer或owner处入手一辆二手VW New Beetle, 年份为
2007以后的车 。有以下问题：
1.有没有推荐的华人师傅能做车况检查。
2.哪一片区的car dealer比较集中，价格比较合理。
租房：
安全第一，根据环境,价格接受范围在500到850 plus utilities. 房型2B2B或者多人合
租，卧室最好不要在一楼。比较亲睐的区域是Rice 和UT,喜欢学校附近的氛围。当然，
只要到downtown车程15分钟内的安全区域都可以。希望apartment的质量好，因为没有
时间去烦恼琐碎事情。我会自备家俱，所以可以是unfurnished apartment. 如果你已

，就去试试，进去看到一老一少Sales, 感觉有戏，跟老爷爷说我是非居民外星人，老
爷爷说他卖过枪给3个外星人过，又问小伙Sales你卖过几个外星人，小伙说我卖过俩，
我大喜，问要啥文件，其实我知道，故意装傻，结果人家很专业的只要了I94，LA驾照
，LA猎照（网上可买，不用上课），复印了文件就开始填4473，有一项要注意，系统里
没有I94，只有I9，填同一个号码就行了，11位号码，另外就用了版上的F1买枪的模板
