不过我还是疑惑,工业界funding要花不少时间做,然而不太好发论文啊。虽然很多大
牛已经不把论文当回事了,不过我才做发考题两年,论文对我还是很重要的。
还有,澳洲(至少我们这个学校)不但不强调基础研究,也不在意independence,很多
年轻发考题每篇论文都会加established professor,而且反而算是有mentorship
或者collaboration的强项。这跟我以前接受的training不是一个理念。
我其实有些拧巴。
一边不想被别人taken credits,想保持独立。不然时间长了,我怕不是我选择这个job
,而是
stuck here了。
一边我也想站住脚。
哎。还是足够优秀才能啥也不怕呀。 |

是这个样子的,公司有那种cross function的mentorship program, 每个参加这个项目
的高级别的mentor(至少是director级的),配个低level的mentee(像我这样的)。
mentee 先面试mentor ,然后找出自己的top 5,交给组织者,组织者负责match - 如
果2个mentee 选了一个mentor,再由mentor 决定要谁。
我觉得有两个mentor都很好,都是中年阿姨,级别差不多,功能区别比较大,一个 A
是在我们这个部门做了很多年,很多国家都做过,步步高升,最后转到其他部门去当头
了。另一个B是根我们日常交流比较多的一个部门的头。
我感情上比较倾向于A, 感觉她能确实能给我指点很多的职业发展道路,毕竟她自己都
经历过。但是理智上选B,因为有自己的盘算,我的工作需要根他们部门合作,如果有
她这个头的支持的话,会好办的多。
所以交list 的时候,我就把B 放在第一,A放在第二。B还是这个项目的组织/发起者
,所以基本上就是把list交给她了。

email说PP开始,真诚向版上的XDJM求祝福,也祝大家早绿!
准备材料这半年在版上学了很多,在这里我也把自己的一些小经验分享一下,希望对大
家有所帮助。
1. 要推荐信:根据前人的经验,我都是周一,周二晚上把要推荐信的email发出。
Email的内容也是根据版上的模版做了点小改动。可是最初的3-4封信都石沉大海,没有
任何回音。我想来想去,很可能牛人们这样的信收的太多,不相干的人也许根本不会把
email点开看。于是我把邮件的标题改成了“Support letter inquiry (former
graduate student of Dr. xx (or postdoc of Dr. xx))”。我要信的目标也主要是
那些比较熟悉我老板的人 。不知道是改标题还是改目标起了作用,后来再发的邮件全
都一举中的,并且基本都在我发去draft后的2-3天收到了签好的推荐信。以下是我要推
荐信的email,因为信比较长,我highlight了重点,好让收信人短时间了解我的目的。
