我在 1996 年 10 月 20 日邮购获得这本书。但是一直摆到1999 年初才开始读。读完
的日子，恰好是 Carroll一百六十七岁冥诞的那一天。也很靠近他逝世一百周年的日子
。真是巧合。
Gardner 不算是数学家，但是在数学圈子里，名气绝不亚于任何费尔兹奖得主。有一位

九六四年冬谢世后，叁十年来，以他的生平和作品为题材的书，数目早已多过他自己的

一九九四年，以他的信仰生活和与达韦曼女士迟来且短暂的坚贞爱情故事为主题的
传记电影〈幽谷之旅〉(Shadow lands)在全球上映，故事感人，本已畅销的鲁氏着作，

其中最受欢迎也影响知识界最巨的一本，就是现在译为中文出版的《返璞归真》，
英文原着已印行数百万册，神学家、文学家、科学家读它，小学教师、家庭主妇也读它。
毫无疑问，鲁氏是本世纪具领导地位的基督徒作家兼思想家。伦敦〈泰唔士报〉说
他能"将神学写得既吸引又迷人，令读者陶醉其中。"
本书是他二次大战期间，环绕同一主题所作的"广播专题讲话"，由英国广播电台
BBC播送。目的是将"各时代差不多所有的基督徒都坚守的信仰加以阐述，并为之辩解"

降的很低, 他们以为"神迹"发生了, 兴奋不已. 一如既往, "神迹"呵呵了, 他的妻子
在几经折磨还是走了.
亲见爱妻所受的痛苦折磨, 和自己丧妻之痛, C.S. Lewis觉得自己被上帝戏弄了, 上帝
拿他当小白鼠做折磨实验. 大师从此郁郁寡欢, 没有再写一部护教书籍, 大约3年后就
去世了, 65岁. 大师写了一辈子的护教书籍, 结果上帝的奖赏让他郁郁而终. 恐怕在他
的晚年, 他都懒得翻一下自己以前写的书.
