SUV，他的越野能力还算是不错的。。。按照jeep的说法，liberty前轮是独立悬挂（为
了增加舒适性）后轮是非独立悬挂（为了保持一定的越野能力），车身是unibody的，
但为了增加越野能力，这车加装了ladder frame，wiki上說，这叫unibody on ladder
frame.
这个车在compact SUV里算挺重的，1.8吨，就我自己开的情况，油耗很高，纯local，
很多stop and go的情况下，MPG只能维持在12.5左右。如果你对油耗要求高，不建议考
虑。
这个车内饰挺cheap的，我的limited版都让人觉得如此，估计sport版的就更。。。
02－07是第一代产品，08－现在是第二代，发动机都是一样的，3.7 V6. 动力还不错，
尤其是低转速扭曲很大，下雪天碰到有冰雪的上坡路，这个车还是挺给力的。。。
总体来说，虽然这车有些美国车普遍的缺点，但我觉得他很给力，我很喜欢！

如果有一笔是较小资金量，个人brokerage账户的。10万20万及以下的，个人income税
又高。不想买股票或者股票已经买够了。可以买几个muni就好。要买没有federal tax
的。注意看清楚了。
如果是401k的钱，通常是不可以买单个bond, 也通常没有defined maturity bond
fund的选项的。公司提供的bond fund通常是固定duration的。这样的bond fund在长期
升息环境下本金是一定要跌的。短期可以起起落落，但是债券是个30年的牛市末期，未
来可能要跌很多很多年。长期来说，不推荐在401k里面买duration固定的bond fund。
如果是IRA或者是Roth IRA的钱。倒是可以考虑defined maturity bond fund或者
laddered bond portfolio。但是如果钱太少不值得折腾。如果你有个好的broker/
advisor专长bond的，可以帮你推荐几个bond就好。个人投资者几乎很难找到好的bond
deal，而且好deal转瞬即逝。

进可攻，想爬corporate ladder, 跟别的职业一样爬，照样manager, director, vp,
cto，只要有本事，使劲爬去。不想管人，想做技术大牛，玩命干，出点名气，搞咨询
一年几十万一点问题都没有。不小心做大了，象youtube 之类的，几个人，几条枪，两
年赚十几个亿。
退可守，想享受生活，找个养老大公司，早九晚五，一周三天在家工作，钓钓鱼，打打
球，挣的照样比其他行业90%的一线经理高。
一家两夫妻都是码工，工作五年之后家庭收入25万，连加班都不用，轻松进入美国的1%。
码工不是青春饭，你想爬corporate ladder，当然没这个问题，就算你不想爬，做个
engineer, 稳稳当当到50岁，一点都不难。50岁之后，如果被裁了再找，可能有点难，
但是积攒了20多年的人脉，加经验，开个小咨询公司养活自己是没问题的。有人说，那
我不想开咨询公司呢，废话，你２０多年赚的钱已经比别人一辈子都多了，就退休贝。
那些鄙视码工的,就算在所谓的'管理层', 95%一辈子没码工赚的多。不要以为靠技术吃

不说了。
准备：看书做题目的话，我主要来这个版，还有quant版，还有红皮书，绿皮书。其它
的书也没有时间看了。主要是准备编程，puzzle，probability, statistics的题目。
另外，我强烈建议大家PhD毕业无忧的时候再找工作，那样的话准备充分一些。我就是
一边做research，一边找，结果累到连续生病了好几次。
导师: 为什么我要把这个专门拿出来说呢, 因为好多公司都是需要推荐信的。和老板搞
好关系很重要，这样才能要到好的推荐信。如果实在和老板关系不好的，建议考虑直接
绕过老板，推荐信个人觉得还是说好话更重要。
面试: 表现自然很重要。be yourself 才能发挥最佳状态。亢奋，紧张，过度放松的状
态都不好，最好的状态是淡定，不管面试，拿到offer还是据信，都争取做到心里没有
波澜，保持淡定(虽然我自己很难做到）。

Contractor一般招来做manual testing。这种估计印度人比较多。
有些contractor干一段时间后就会试图转成TE。这个是需要通过面试和hiring
committee的。当试的人特别多，总有人通过面试被转成TE。很多人转成TE后，其实还
是做manual testing的事。
然后在promotion的时候，committee里的印度人对自己的人就讲impact，什么虽然这些
人没有做很多的automation，但是他们的工作是多么有impact,promote，对非自己的人
就讲ladder，虽然他们有很大impact，但是没有做ladder要求的事情， no promote。 |

walk on roof, but it is scary. Walking on roof should be cautious in case to
destroy the shingles. Actually, most gutters are not wood materials anymore,
only need to paint the backing panel behind gutters.
Ladders can stand against any place as long as the upper points are padded not
to destroy paint. Make sure the angle of the ladder is about 75 deg to grade.

up and down to the 20ft high roof and try to clean the gutter when there
is some wind, you might want to buy one yourself. On the other hand, if
you are so much stronger and consider 70lb ladder a piece of cake, then
go ahead and laugh.
To LZ: I paid full price from irobot.com. They do have 30 free trial and
if it doesn't work well, I'll send it back. |
