Devalue currency is referred as a measure against foreign currency. If other
currency stay the same, then Yes, you introduce inflation, at the same time
, encourage export. These 2 benefits are major reasons a lot of countries
are trying to do that. But, if all countries try to do this at the same time

首先,你这八万到底是inflation adjusted还是不是先说清楚. 你不能只花的时候算是
inflation钱的, 401K的涨幅算inflation后的. 投资股市,不就是hedge正常的
inflation么?
社保破产是个很夸张的说法,30年之后,也会有人工作,也可以从他们的收入里扣社保金
给你花,所谓的社保破产,是说不能按现在的预算中你会拿到的钱给你了,按照现在的预
算,如果是不adjust inflation的,现在年薪十万的,社保一人一年有八万左右. 我看到
的最坏的预测,也就是打个七折罢了.
至于医疗保险,medicare现在就是有的,不需要教主的医疗改革,年龄到了就有了.
另外,我总觉得这种退休金的算法很小农. 似乎,自己存够了,老婆孩子热炕头的那种满
足. 如果,真的要假设社保完全破产,医疗保险完全破产,美国不要乱了?世界不要大战了
?还算401K有多少钱有意思么? 就好比去年经济低谷的时候,很多人在这里说要三到五年
的emergency fund. 如果,真的到有热门研究生学位的能吃苦耐劳的中国人都因为失业
花光三年的应急基金的话,隔壁老黑不早就在你们家抢劫

It may suggest two different things
1) The investors, especially the retirees, get led/scared by the talking
heads to believe inflation is on the horizon **AND** TIPS is the best hedge
against it, so they bought up TIPS, albeit market says otherwise.
2) Or the market is wrong, and the future inflation is much higher than the
market implied.
My thinking is on the former camp. People tend to forget the TIPS are, first

sounds like a sure thing. Then why preferred stocks have a yield of ~6-8%
while 30-year t-bond rate is ~3%? Why Wall street money is not smart enough
to arbitrage away the gap?
I am sure you must have heard the term "rating" before ? Different ratings ,
different returns. (but why does this gap matters anyway ? who cares ?
Unless you believe these tier 1 banks can fail again ?)

随大流才是最stupid的idea,如果大家认为inflation会到来,那么我们就绝对不可
以买黄金。从这个意义上说,save money for inflation是非常明智的方法。美国有
很多似是而非的理论,比如所谓的inflation expectation,inflation只由货币发行
量决定,还有就是买黄金对付inflation。显然买黄金最好的时间是2000年附近,那
候一切大好。所以真正应该做的是,经济大好的时候买黄金,经济crash的时候买股
票,高利率的时候买房子,低利率的时候存cash。

ibond adjust for inflation by changing the floating component of the rate.
TIPS adjust for inflation by changing the principle.
So suppose there is a big inflation jump, i bond will not compensate you
for the money you lost from that jump to next interest adjustment date,
while TIPS can fully account for this. So the point is that i bond only
provide imperfect hedge against inflation, while TIPS provide perfect
inflation hedge. (in the case of deflation, uncle sam guarantee tha

,15.3%意味这什么不用我解释了吧,中国政府一个强大的地方就在于行动非常快,而

is a definite possibility. In that environment, incredibly high interests
rates will drive down the housing price tremendously. Without recovery of
employment market, rent won't go up either.

president of the New York Fed Bank, said in a speech Monday, hinting at the
option of a third round of quantitative easing.
“The Fed seems to be pushing the global agenda towards continued dovishness

IMO,这个你是误解FED了。Money supply总量在QE前后确实没有变,那些钱在QE之前已
经在那了。你看到的是一个很不幸的事实,savings在增加是因为cash hoarding。事实
是现在需要inflation。这听起来很counter intuitive。但是inflation有good
inflation backed by productivity,鼓励cash circulation。当然也有bad
inflation backed by over spending through debt。现在你看到黄金,原油,股市上
涨,很不幸都是malinvestment的结果, 是"pocket" inflation,大趋势是debt-
deflation,最终将美国带往double dip甚至great depression。

No matter what the yield it is now. TIPS principle is adjusted to the
inflation rate. It's not Uncle Sam that determines the inflation rate. it's
one of Fed's purposes to control inflation rate within a reasonable range.
High inflation is bad, but deflation is worse.
They calculate inflation rate by excluding energy and food sectors which
prices are too volatile.
