actually a good thing. Because the more difficult it is for the layers to
slide against each other, the more energy would build up, and the more
energy would be released when it does slide. Well lubricated rock layers
doesn't build up as much energy, result in more minor earthquakes, but less

getting shale gas need a lot of water to fracture the rock formation. Areas
in China that has large shale gas deposit lack water.
Also, this method of gas extraction has unknown environmental effect, best
to let US experience it first. The gas will still be there in a few decades
, so it doesn't hurt to wait. |
