finesse as much as possible. But here JEC decided on an early finesse. After
winning !c and drawing trumps in 2 rounds, he played a small s from hand. E
was caught by surprise. After a noticable delay, he played small. But the

finessing D is more complex. You succeed when DK onside, D3-3, or 4-2, but the
person holding short D does not have Hxxx. It's actually slightly better that,
since if you play DQ, if East has DKx Hxxx, it's hard for him not to cover.
Then even he has Kxxx, there's a likelyhood that he'll cover (you might have
AJxx). So you will make this most of the time even when East had AQxxx Kx Kxxx
xx.
So I'd say finesse D. |

dummy is quite exposed and opps is likely to know that the key to this hand
is to induce a misguess in S. Also, against decent opps, I don't think you
can gather a lot of information on the spade position.
Anyway, you can certainly draw trumps (assuming it is 2-2) and cash H, D. In
that case you may make it when RHO holds stiff S honor.
If there is no much information, you should probably finesse SJ, because

still have 50-50 shot. If LHO is not prepared, you may gain valuable
information. You give up the small chance of RHO holding singleton honor in
S, but this may be more than compensated by the chance that you catch LHO
off guard.
This is a different situation than missing only Queen. If you are trying to
find the queen (say you can finesse either way), then distributional
information is much more relevant. |

是夏天的钓法这样的话...希望不是St. Clair那篇文章，如果你去St. Clair就会明白
为什么当时情况是super finesse的条件。Bass fishing忌随意推广，只有给定条件给
定水体一对一的分析，有东西可以借鉴但是没有两次是完全一样的，要广地说也就更容
易false generalization而造成误导。
LZ的文章看上去是一个schooling的case...但是也看不出soft plastic一定不work。
很多人都以为soft plastic就是finesse, spinnerbait/crank就是power，这是误区。
finesse 或者power不是因为饵的种类来区分的，而是如何结合标点鱼情呈现，是因钓
手而异。可以power dropshotting, power tubing，也可以finesse cranking/finesse
spinnerbaiting...不管用什么方法，目的只有一个，就是最高效的钓鱼。 |

have 11 top tricks. As I said, this is not a great slam, although hardly
the worst I've seen.
I think S9 makes spade suit more attractive for developing the additional
trick. Options are:
1) Finesse SJ, if lost then later finesse S9. 75% chance.
2) Finesse SJ, if lost then later play AK for drop. In addition to LHO
holding SQ, it also works if S are 3-3, or ten-doubleton. Somewhere around
77%.

Bassfishing的Finesse设计的，要说topwater，最多也就是类似风神蜘蛛这种topwater
的饵，一般的pencil/popper在bassfishing里面极少有需要用spinning器材来抛投的。
而在finesse的presentation上，正统finesse完全不需要这么快的retreival，power
finesse/turbo finesse的速度也不需要这么快这么快。
对于topwater一大类，popper可以由竿子或者单纯轮子的回收来控制，而spook/dog-X/
gunfish这类不管是纯walk the dog还是又popper又walk the dog的饵，脱离竿子的抽
动与回收的节奏配合，基本上是做不出动作。另一方面，至少在淡水walk the dog饵的
设计上，现在的一大趋势是让饵能够在左右摆动的同时尽可能少的向前移动，极限情况
是原地就能左右蛇摆，为的是更好的刺激迟疑的bass的reaction strike把它们彻底惹

Suppose you win CA, play DJ which is likely to force out DK. then you ruff C
return, play HQ let it run, assume it works, then you take S finesse, cash
HA, play D to take another S finesse, your chance is indeed pretty good,
because in this bidding sequence, declarer is likely to hold most of the
HCPs when his partner passed the takeout double and declarer is aceless.
Also, if DJ is ducked, you can just play DA and play the 3rd D to force it

a chance of making 11 tricks, and if LHO holds A32 in trump AND the CK, yes he
finds a great lead and you have to pray it is a low average instead of a
bottom, ie, someone share the same result as you.
In an IMP field, finesse the C9 first. Say it loses to J/10, you still have a
dummy entry in trump to finesse the CQ for the 2nd time, because you only need
10 tricks.

somebody with SK and 4 h's.
i don't know how to squeez. so, i have to assume it will work. and it
seems that you can't try both the finesse on SK and the squeeze, or finesse
and the 3-3 in hearts.
so, i play a small H. and after i win the return, i will try the 3-3, and

If you play it onside, you will get either a bottom or an average, if you
play it offside, a bottom or a top.
This doesn't look like a good gamble, unless you can guess correctly at the
end most of the times (more than 2/3). Because you could have locked in a 50
% by taking the finesse earlier.
Since I am a bad guesser, I would have taken the finesse earlier.

with 12 or more HCP, your only chance would be to play him to hold SA, DA
CQ and east opens 3C with at least 12 HCPS. So it's generally safe to play S
here, try to set up dummy.
If west ducks, you can win SK, take H finesse, ruff D, take another H
finesse to make it. If west plays SA and returns D, you have to ruff, cash
SK then take H finesse. You would make it when east holds SJxx HK DJxx

it is a superior line. For example, if you have a two-way finesse, in theory
you can make 100% of time if you guess right, but that doesn't mean taking
the finesse is better than an alternative line which has 60% of success rate.
Look it in another way. We are actually breaking down to three lines, not
two:
1) Play small to Q, then cash A.
2) Play J, cover by K, A. LHO follows 8 or x. Play Q next.

和饵，要长、高power的竿来handle，主要的作用是找鱼，最多用在光水，cover a lot
of water，但是又不像spinnerbait, topwater baits, lipless crank那样的“快速
”，因为一般用的是soft plastic，有很多的finesse成分，经典的用处是在sand/mud
bottom上探rocky bottom，和在weedline的周围扫。
Dropshot的最基本组成是pure finesse的，如果Carolina求的是cover a lot of water
，那么dropshot的宗旨就是stay still--不是指饵不运动，而是不发生水平方向的移动
（在足够长的时间内）——这是dropshot从船上针对深水鱼发展起源的特点决定的，原
本是一个vertical presentation的钓组。Dropshot既然是纯finesse，其使用的特点之

先说海钓popping，这个无疑义，无论是surf popping或者深海popping，肯定推荐high
gear ratio的轮子，原因一部分对，还有是因为海钓popping是连续大幅度动作，高速
轮比低速轮更能跟上节奏并省力。
淡水popping，你大概说的是船钓扔个几米，岸钓扔出去几十米，一路retrieve回来，
无论怎样的presentation，你要说高速轮没有优势，至少文内理论说服不了我。
再说drag与线容量，日本所有的轮子，标号线容都是以mono，但你也知道包括toray等
公司也有power finesse的braided line，6磅线容仅仅是做标准，toray的bawo
finesse braid最小重量10磅线估计能上个200~300米，看看toray的这款finesse
braided线的拉力，从10磅到66磅都有。

view, he may find 4H a perfectly normal contract. So playing
dropping is the normal, while finessing would be seeking
swing.

significantly behind, then he may find no reason to create a
more likely swing by finessing.

I decided to play the club finesse after some thinking. I thought that if East
won, looking at dummy, chances are that he would return a diamond. Then I'd
have better chance to gain a diamond trick. If playing diamonds by myself, I
could very well lose 4 diamonds (such as KT vs. AQxx) so I still need the club
finesse.
And if I play club at 2nd trick, some East would even hold CK...

After cashing top C to drop CQ, it is not too hard to go to dummy through S,
unblock S, and take a C finesse. If finesse loses, you'll come to 3S, 3H,
2D, 4C; if it wins, RHO did not cover, you can then set up a C to come to
the same 12 tricks. If RHO covers the CJ, now your entry is screwed up so
cannot set up C any more, but you can win the CK, and work on S, for 4S, 3H,
2D, 3C.
