faculty positions, the starting salary is between 150K to 170K for 9 months
plus 2 months' summer pay.

本人计算机博士在读，预计11年毕业，想找finance IT方面的实习
背景：
1. 熟练使用c++，平时research都用这个写code，有时用python写脚本做数据处理，用
过SQL, java, matlab，现在一直在做的是大规模数据并行处理，用mpi。
2. 在国内搞过几年machine learning，了解并使用过svm等工具。
3. 目前在一个协会作fixed income分析，主要是treasury部分，协会大概管理$4.6
million。其中一半资本在treasury sector。目前正在做一个项目，用svm作回归预测
失业率。
4. 五年国内股市股票交易经验。
5. 已过cfa一级。
6. 老实说，quant方面可能比较薄弱，这也是我专注于找fi |

发帖数: 793 | 16 表误导小同学。不才，俺就是学经济学滴，不过是PHD肄业，呵呵。首先经济学phd很好
找工作，反正我们这个烂校上下几届的phd program认识的20多个老中老外，不管是肄
业还是结业，全部都按时找到工作，并且至少1/3在金融机构。经济系实际上就业面很
广，只要是有数量分析的工作，都对经济系敞开大门。
其次，如果经济phd实力够强（不是运气强哈），能找到faculty的教职，那就要分开看
。经济的phd在finance dept找到教职的不在少数，finance毕竟是经济学的一个分支。
再者，如果经济系也在商学院，这个工资差别就更小。当然很多学校的经济系是在文理
学院。不过总的来说，不管是econ还是Fin,找到教职的那都是小概率事件。

现在在美国，想申请一个硕士，正在accounting,statistics以及cs之间犹豫
准备申请和lp同一个学校，（她的学校没有finance方向的硕士）。
计算机在大学学过一些基础的编程软件及硬件基本课程，平时也编过一些小程序，
作为非专业人员，对这个方向还有点兴趣，但有点担心是不是需要更多的知识基础
才能学好。
顺便提供其他信息：
没有gmat成绩，所以对accounting有点犹豫，而且不知道暂外国人学这个是否好找工作
统计的基础比cs的要强一些，但是学校这边统计系规模很小，就那么几个老师，也不知道
值不值得读。
对这边的就业市场一点都不太熟，所以特别想听听这边各位的意见了。

，并且思路清晰，表达流利，否则的确很难面面俱到。在面试的时候，能做到说出一些
重要的点，就很了不起了。
自己坐在家中毫无压力，时间充裕的情况下倒是可以尝试着回答一些：
1、Currently our company (non-profit)is out of cashflow, as manager, what
should you do?
- 评估目前现金流短缺的原因，看目前支出是否合理。（节流）
- 向赞助人说明目前情况，看是否能获得额外的赞助。（开源）
- 其他融资渠道（对non-for-profit融资渠道不了解，可能和一般企业的融资渠道不一
样吧）。
2、If you have a conflict with another coworker about a project, what should
you do?
- 说套话，重视沟通之类的。实在无法解决要escalate什么的。

为了离gf近一点，二来听说这个方向比较热。可最近听那儿的一个哥们说，他们第一届这
个QCF的班，二十个人目前只有一个找到工作，ft。我还以为是因为gatech的b-school不
够top，后来又听说象卡梅，columbia类似的program的毕业生都找不着工作，更ft。
anyway，不管怎样也得去了，老婆要紧，而且还有TA做，又可以再混一年多。不过很
担心毕业后也会jobless，所以想这一两年里认真学点东西，就是不知道该注重些什么，
还望大家指点一二。
俺的背景是数学本科，基础还行，在这边拿的统计MS，Ph.D做SPDE做了一年刚quit掉了，
计算机方面SAS/Splus玩得较熟，会点C/C++。现在俺知道第一要狂补英语，毕竟商科英语
要求比理科高多了，第二要补Finance的背景知识。但不知道找工作时到底什么是最重要
的，难道就是会算点随机微分方程? 俺都算了一年多了也没觉得有啥用。 :(

From last summer, the work prospect for MSF and Financial engineering is

again, I will recommend taking Economics courses (Micro, Econometrics),
Finance courses or Probability courses. Try to do as well as you can in those
