这个面包之所以说它神奇有三个原因：
第一，做一个面包需要耗时10天；
第二，它的starter（类似于酵种）来自于一群叫做Amish people的人，有且只有Amish
people会做这个starter。而更神奇的，这个Amish people是一个极其富有传奇色彩的
族群——他们生活在美国和加拿大交界处，因为信奉复古、极端的基督教，崇尚自然的
赐予，他们拒绝用电、汽车以及一系列现代化科技，过着与世隔绝的生活。Amish人禁
止与外族通婚和买卖，禁止子女接受初中以上的教育，认为这些知识足以应付日常的生
活。在美国，尤其是upper michigan，人们说的土鸡蛋、土菜之类的，就是指由Amish
people用传统的农业生产方式而生产的农副产品。

hemicellulose or lignin cellulose is a problem.
Right now, many pepole are turning to microalgae or some photosynthetic
organims such as cyanobacterium. By the way, lipid production from algae
sometimes is better than alcohol. Some dark horses utilize CO2 under
unaerobic conditions have also been paid much attention.

我得指出的一点是： EPA的这个资料里明确说了：他们只测了短期的毒性，
但是他们认为长期的毒性应该是由短期的毒性积累后引起的。所以在短期没有毒性
的情况下就没有测长期毒性的必要。

微生物工业界里比较热门的,学校里都做的很少,比如fermentation, QA/QC, LAL test,
endotoxin, antimicrobial, sterilization validation,因为产品几乎都要过FDA/
ISO测试, 而在学校这样的非生产环境根本学不到. 而且招phd的都是比较senior的职位
, sr.scientist, sr.microbiologist之类, 基本都要一定年限工业界经验, 没有的话,
就要背景非常非常match
我猜你是做molecular microbiology的? 好像有一些公司招会yeast genetics,
hybridization的, 或者用分子的经验找找, 职位比微生物要多

facility
你拿来coding sequence，你说要放到什么vector 里面，histag, GST tag, mbp tag
同时尝试， 要什么mutant/truncation , 几种选择，一个礼拜交活，你拿走plasmid,
然后你拿去fermentation facility长
回去自己纯化， 然后robot setup box， robot inspection,
没有这些的结构小组，是无论如何不会有竞争力的 |

我老觉得还是已经故去的James Bailey才是真正的NB！后来从Caltech去了ETH，挺多8g
可以8的。虽然做的没那么fancy，还是挺牛的。他老去世的时候，BB也是出了专刊的，
鼓励他这一辈子在辛勤地在BB上灌了上百篇水。liao也写了篇回忆的文章。那一期BB上

There are a few in industry and some are working as staff in academic
centers. The point is most of them land good jobs, or relatively good job
compared to other bio-related major.
If you want industrial relevance, then CS is a good fit for you. I am not
knowledgeable enough to know what bio-related stuff has a lot industrial
relevance. Maybe food science and real fermentation technology. But that is

村，年薪7万。
非常大的制药公司博士后职位（属于contract性质，没有医疗保险之类的福利），地点
加州，年薪8万，课题比较好，以后再找大公司的工作会比较容易
本人基本情况：
博后马上4年了，家有两娃，老婆目前在本地一个小公司工作，如果我去小公司，她可
以辞职可以随我一起走(她在新地方基本找不到工作，不过可以抽时间读个CS的Master)
，工资够生活。
如果去加州，我只能一个人去，老婆留在当地，把孩子的保险挂在她的名下，然后两地
分居，把父母接过来，帮忙照顾孩子。等我博后做完，找到正式工作之后，全家再团聚。 |
