我03年也被忽悠买的Metlife的Whole life Policy,100万的保额.每年$11000多吧,1年
后又被忽悠加上Enricher, 保额增加到150万。付了2年觉得不划算,就改为只付$250/年
将Enricher保留着.到今年为止总共付了将近18万的保费，我刚才瞄了一眼现在的
Account状况
Death Benefit：150万
Cash Value： 30万出头一点
如果现在不再付保费，每年的分红可以抵了。我是当这部分是闲钱扔在一边，所以也没

gift program 是全面天才班
考试都一样，如果单科成绩突出就上相应的Enrichment，一周两个半天，5hr/wk
如果每个测试都相当出色，就可以上天才班
有的科目是教的超前一年到两年，有的科目是既加快又加深，我听着还是蛮具有挑战性的，不是天才的娃挤进去了，不光孩子，爸妈也得跟着受罪。单科应该好应付的多。 |

在我们这里大家常觉得Carmel Valley这个精英荟萃的地方的Torrey Pine High School（US Newsweek Ranking #125)是最好的学校。TPHS去年有6个哈佛录取的，十几个斯坦福录取的。然而在US Newsweek的排名上，她远远掉在了另一个名不见经传的小学校后。谁说美国人不知道怎么样用social economic background来衡量学生了。
这所小学校叫Preuss School UCSD （US Newsweek Ranking #17).我朋友帮哈佛校友面试时，这个学校的申请生录取率最高。他连续两年面试了两个从这个学校出来后来被哈佛录取的越南孩子。他告诉我那几个孩子的故事真的很感人。他们这得是overcome a lot of hardship to arrive where they are.例如有个孩子为了能上这个学校，每天5点就起来去朋友家里等车。这样求学上进的孩子是我们愿意帮助的。

想达到啥目的？要求孩子继续呆在合唱团。 孩子还是对合唱没有兴趣，还是会捣乱。
然后呢，再被开除？
你说的，是正式上课中出现的问题。这个合唱团应该算是ENRICHMENT，ENRICHMENT不是
义务教育的一部分，处理手法和平时有不同，也没啥。
这事的根子还是家长PUSH孩子做不喜欢的事。PUSH钢琴，弹不好，顶多是浪费家长的钱
。去合唱团，会影响到整个集体。 |

提法，让人眼前一亮。一个词就概括了好多东西。还有sibling之间的关系，也受启发。
能明白孩子的need，也不是个容易的事儿。我已经约了一个朋友，去向她请教如何给孩
子课外做enrichment的。看看公校+enrichment，如何满足孩子的need。另外，还考虑
给小娃安排个测试，听听professional的意见。（也算是为了公平， 因为大娃以前测
过。）
再次谢谢。有个ID说的好，独生子女就没这个问题。国内放开二胎了，估计也得发愁了

一年级是不是不用管，我觉得不用管也可以，或者 enrichment 一点也可以。
我不觉得是必须的。但是另一方面，闲着也是闲着。我的原则就是只要不鸡飞狗跳，
enrich 啥都不会错。

我的祖母是广东人，所以全家在90年代移民美国。我们当时住在波士顿唐人街一间没有暖气的房子里。我们家和我姑妈家六口人挤在一个老鼠，蟑螂成灾的2-bedroom apartment里。我的父母的许多朋友也是新移民，他们不会英文，很多在国内也没上过大学，生活在社会的底层。那是一段我人生不愿意回首的日子。后来，为了报答我父母对我做的巨大牺牲，我发奋读书，后来靠奖学金，助学金顺利地完成了学业，而且我整个大学期间没有向我父母要一分钱。我记得我上高中时，有一次我在Filene Basement看到了一件25美元的蓝色的jacket，非常想要。妈妈足足犹豫了好几分钟才跟我买。后来那件衣服我在Boston穿了5个冬天，直到我后来自己挣钱买了一件外套。现在，我回想那段日子都觉得恍然梦中。
