Chinese rare earth metal is just cheap, not unique. There are plenty of
rare earth metal deposits in other countries, only they don't develop them
because Chinese export is so very, very cheap that it's not profitable for
them.
Plus, Japan has already built up a stock pile of rare earth metal that will
be more than enough to out last any embargo. |

embargo placed on China, so not a lot of trade can happen. Still, China
imported a lot of western equipments. Some of the major fertilizer plants,
synthetic fiber plants, heavy industrial manufacturing plants that were put
into production in late 70's, early 80's were purchased in early 70, in the
middle of CR.
Before Deng, China didn't purchase foreign consumer goods and luxury items
on any scale. That is actually not a bad thing. |
