标 题: fixed effect一问

最近在看一些panel regression的东西，一个很简单的东西始终没有弄明白
y_it = beta * x_it + v_i + error
书上说如果v_i和x correlation是0的话，那么这个model就是fixed effect model
但是这里v_i在时间上是一个常数，其variance是0，它和任何时间序列的correlation
都是undefined的。
我哪里理解错了？

fixed effects就是说你在严格控制的实验条件下观测了一批数据，而且你认为它们都
是符合某种条件的random variables; random effects就是说你测数据时没法严格控制
，所以观测结果受某个或某些没控制的random variable(s)影响了。最常见的情况，比
如你的数据不是控制实验下得来的，所以有很多dependency,或者比如你观测的东东有
自然grouping,你没法直接观测也没法控制 |

It is called measurement error, not random effect.
when beta (unknown) is not fixed for every observation,
e.g. following some distribution, it is called the random effect. |

. I know people use mixed model often in pharmaceutical industry.
But in financial industry, the repeated measure is so many, say unemployment
rate each country in the last 20 years (240 monthly obs). Do we still use
mixed model or random effect model to do panel analysis? Or should we just
use linear regression?
Anybody has experience on this? |

和age effect没什么关系。因为每个人都有三个时间点上测的三个数据，然后只预测一
个outcome。例如测一个人12，14，16岁的体重，然后预测这个人40岁的时候有没有结
婚。这和age无关。 |

握力 ~ 人 + 手 + error
model 1 把人当fixed effect，算出手的estimate， p value.
model 2 把人当random effect，算手的estimate, p value.
两种方法算出来的手的estimate 和 p value都是一样的（R的默认条件）。感觉上应该
不一样啊，总觉得至少会影响p value. |

cause还是应该是表面摩擦力。
如果Venturi和Y形管连接，应该是取决于fluid/gas jet首先接触的表面，那个表面靠
近Y形管的哪个分支，就是主要往哪边流。
如果是管道内壁绝对光滑的话，可能要考虑重力作用的co-effect，但是血管内壁是绝
对不光滑的，所以表面摩擦力应该是dominant effect.
俺就准备这么交差了，反正听着还能自圆其说。学过流体力学的同学如果觉得我哪里没
考虑到，麻烦给我扔个小条，thanks! |
