data snooping的原因就是对于data的过分解释，这就是hypothesis driven的一个弊端。
另外没有你所说的这个flow，一样可以做出伟大的科学。不少药物在上市之后若干年都
不知道具体的作用机理如何，根本就不需要对它的作用机理提出任何hypothesis并进行
验证，但是这不影响这个药物的应用，比如aspirin.同样，流行病学调查也是可以没有
hypothesis的，但是这些调查数据一样可以提供有用的信息。

设计 hypothesis for statistical test。
另外，alternative hypotheses 早就在生物学中广泛应用了。而且作为方法论，
alternative hypotheses 并不限于生物学，别的学科一样适用。以前就推荐过 Platt

但是你所说的这两个阶段，在现实的生物学科研中并没有很好的执行
因此也就出现了歪曲data用来解释hypothesis的事情
毕竟验证一个hypothesis，统计学家可能只需要几个星期或者几个月的时间，而且null
hypothesis被reject之后可以接受alternative hypothesis，即使是没有差异也算是
结果。但是生物学PI们的hypothesis验证起来要花更长的时间，而且这个hypothesis直
接关系到他的R01 grant是否能得到资助。目前的生物学科研只重视positive data而无
视negative data，所以一旦hypothesis被reject，那就什么都不剩了。
如果只是普通的药物筛选，其实和microarray之类的都差不多，应该是非常中性的。但
是之后要选出compound进行验证，就变成了hypothesis driven，所谓的猫腻应该就出
在这里。

1 科学研究如何进行，如何收集数据来解释现象
2 科学文章发表和科学基金申请的现状，不光要有story，还要有完整story。
如果分开这两个问题，那么我还是认同科学活动需要假设。
说到这里不得不说说波普尔。波普尔最著名的理论，是在于对经典的观测-归纳法的批
判，提出「从实验中证伪的」的评判标准来区别“科学的”与“非科学的”。
先说说他提出的证伪原则。
波普尔同意对偶然真理的界定，但他强调这样的经验科学应该服从一种证伪主义。证伪
主义至少存在两个优点。第一，科学理论的表达一般为全称判断，而经验的对象是个别
的。所以，经验如果用来证实理论，那么它将是无法穷尽一般的理论的。
比如一个全称判断，所有的羊都是白的。再多的白羊也不能证明所有的羊都是白的，
而只要一只黑羊就能证明所有的羊都是白的这个理论是错误的。所以，经验的真正意义
在于可以证伪科学理论。
第二，证伪主义可以避免对错误理论的辩护和教条。如果坚持实证主义，那么一旦出现
与理论相悖的经验，人们便会做出特例假設或特殊的限制以使得理论能满足经验。但实

希望熟悉的业内人士给点相关的信息。
这个公司的前身是morgan stanley的proprietary algorithmic
trading unit。现在从ms里面分出来了，貌似是正在分离
的过程中。据说分离的原因是银行受goverment regulation太多。
想问下这个公司的稳定性和前景怎样。本人是理科PhD，在找junior
quant的职位。首先当然不希望刚找一个就被裁，其次希望不是一个
正在萎缩的方向。当然在版上看到大家都讨论说quant整体在缩水。
我指的是quant内部这个方向相对于其他方向。

不理解为什么棒子会舔泥哥。
在很多东欧国家比如波兰和保加利亚票房也非常惊人。同样不理解。
我估计很大程度都是跟风看热闹。
西非和东非的票房也都破纪录了，大约40万左右吧。
接下来是几个最大的国际票房，俄国，日本和中国。
好莱坞肯定很期待中国票房。我个人估计国内票房不会太好。如果中国票房真的很差的
话，西方媒体肯定不会放过机会贬损的。肯定会借此指责中国人种族歧视。

比如 reward driven 的人，跟 peer pressure driven 的人在一起，基本上 reward
driven 的人，会 general loss motivation，就好比 general depression。因为
peer pressure driven 的只要一开口，就跟 verbal bully 差不多，maniac
statement。
这种其实是 brain chemistry 里，dopamine pathway driven vs oxytocin pathway
driven 的差别，很难改变。可行的办法还真是类似 artistic porn 这种 oxytocin
replacement therapy in healthy way。这不仅仅是 sex drive，而是 general
motivation，对一个人的影响还是挺大的。 |

我觉得不管是hypothesis driven还是data driven
单方面的提法都把会人训练得死死的
老想着hypothesis叫做想入非非
老做实验没有hypothesis叫做只会做饭不会享受
我更喜欢“idea driven”的提法
不管是大规模的data，还是一张简简单单的western blot
都有可能是就的hypothesis的灭亡，新的hypothesis的诞生
我在做实验的过程中，就受到过度强调hypothesis driven的迫害，深深感受到idea
driven的重要性，解释一下：
在做某个实验之前，老板很有idea，带着问题让我做实验，我觉得他的idea不怎样，但
是还是比我强很多，只好做了；
在做的过程中，我小心翼翼做，尽力要推翻老板的hypothesis，得以羞辱他，老板总是
焦急盼望着是否能得到他想要的结果。。。
在得到结果之后，我很激动推翻了老板的hypothesis，老板总是想用各种

我住的小区印度人很多（占30%，中国人24%），所以认识很多烙印。每次问印度人做什
么工作，大部分回答都是IT （软件开发，系统分析，网站维护，信息安全等等），或

出海钓鱼的人知道，海鸥积聚的地方通常鱼比较多。烙印某种程度上很像海鸥，充斥烙
印的行业基本上是排名很靠前的行业(IT, 金融等，医生律师也不少）。相反，学术界
的烙印比老中要少很多。

发帖数: 10908 | 36 这个因人而异，我觉得对我自己而言，游泳是有效的。我觉得有几点可能要注意一下：
首先，众所周知的是，HIIT (High-intensity interval training) 对健身的效果，
远比在 low intensity 连续长时低速翻跟头的效果要好得多。。。但这可能也取决于
肌肉类型，速度肌型的 HIIT 基本就是 follow instinct，耐力肌型的我不了解。
第二，我个人觉得，hip-driven、long sweep 对健身的效果，远比 shoulder-driven
更好，因为 hip-driven 调动更多肌肉群，同时加强的 kick 也 burn 更多热量。。。
而 long sweep 使用更多肌肉力量。。。如果天生关节柔韧的，可以在 hip-driven
上加 body-driven。。。
第三，游泳最大的好处，我觉得是可以远远超过重力限制，同时对关节又没啥压力。。。
但这也回到前面两条。如果要利用到这个好处，要尽可能调动更多肌肉群，同时要上足够
爆发力，然后达到 HIIT 的间歇型大喘气效果。。。当然注意个人心脏的承受力。。。 |

。所以具有普遍意义。
不同层面是说它们不是一个级别的东西。你不能把生物学研究分成 hypothesis driven
，fishing 和trial and error 三类。因为trial and error在前两类中都可以用。前
两类是可以互补，比如先做fishing找到mutation，再做hypothesis driven。或者
hypothesis driven做一段之后，发现可以做做fishing来expand your project。trial
and error到了极致，就是试错法。是实在没有办法之后的办法。不过按照你的想法，
可能生物学应该分成hypothesis driven和试错法两类。但这样的话，象peter walter
所作的genetic screen都不能概括在内了。所以我个人觉得还是分成hypothesis
driven 和fishing 两类比较好。 |

It's great on gas, the body is strong and the engine is great. As for the
tranny, one can't feel it shift. Its air condition and heat is wonderful.

个体进行公开评估（这个对很多学生个体会有很大偏见，因为所做方向、知识储备、水
平、甚至个人因素等不同）。
我一般还会把科研产出和科研投入（主要是项目经费）做对比。二者的比值实际上是投
入产出比。我经常拿performance-driven和reputation-driven做例子。如果投入产出比
例上升，就说明我们处于performance-driven的周期，我们靠能力吃饭，但获得的承认
不够。如果下降，就说明我们处于reputation-driven的周期，靠名气吃饭，但产出没有
与名气相符。
我希望我的实验室能在二者之间找到一个平衡。 |
