天气一天天凉快了下来，周末去Big Cottonwood Canyon的Desolation Lake晃了一圈看
看叶子的颜色变了没有。虽然时间很显然还早，但有些小片的叶子颜色已经变了，红黄
绿相间的地方还挺好看。比较惊艳的是Desolation Lake, 湖边的秋色非常非常的漂亮
。这条路来回一共只有7麦4个小时就可以来回，有时间的同学们可以去看看。

天气终于热了起来, 低处山上的雪也化的差不多了,所以差不多是时候向高处转移了.
这周去的是Big cottonwood canyon里比较靠下的 Mill B North Fork trail. 这条
trail从Mill B north fork进山,但没走多远就离开了fork,一直在山坡上不断上升. 一
直到了和desolation trial交汇的地方才有一片缓坡. 这时的elevation gain大概3000
feet的样子. 其实如果有体力的话Mount Rymond 就在眼前,还有1000 feet左右的爬
升. 一路上基本没有雪了,估计trail上最后的几片雪到下周就应该都化没了. Mt
Rymond 看起来也基本上没有雪了,应该趁着天气还没特别热的时候爬一爬. 沿路野花不
少,不爽的是苍蝇也多了起来,走着还好,中午想找个阴凉坐下吃饭基本坐不住,到处都是
苍蝇.:-(
Trial最开始的地方有一个hidden fall(地图上照相机的地方),本来想去看看,可过去的
路好像被溪水拦住了.水小的时候应该可以穿过去吧,可现在正是水大的时候,想想还是

我这是写给wh的。刚才去她的版上翻了翻旧贴，看到她们在说什么昆曲的北京中州韵、
苏州中州韵，所以说两句。不写在她的版上吧，免得让人家以为是去踢馆的。反正wh也
来这里的，看到就好了。
昆曲遵循的是中州韵，这个没错的。所谓中州，是个历史名词。北宋灭亡以后，长江以
北被金人给占了，而后金人又迅速的汉化，于是生活在金人统治下的汉人和广大汉化了
的金人（都是指读书人而已）就觉得自己也是中国文化的传承者啊，于是把自己住的地
方称为中州。所以中洲韵就是指那个时候的北方音韵，其典籍是元朝周德清写的《中原
音韵》。
现在的昆曲是明朝嘉靖时候固定下来的。在那之前的所谓昆腔多半以苏州一带的吴方言

塘坳化石地质群遗迹
位于重庆市秀山县塘坳乡，由塘坳乡政府至石地质生物群约5公里。距县城20公里
。与国道326线相接，交通极为便利。经专家现场踏看和鉴定，塘坳古生物化石属距今
约4亿2千万年前的志留系秀山组标准化石，此地层的标识性化石即三叶虫、直角石、及
腹足类动物化石等，在整个华南地区都有此类化石分布，但以秀山县最为典型，因此被
国家确定为志留系中统的标准地层剖面，其科学价值很高，旅游价值较大。

6:40). In addition to the views from the observation tower at the summit
(amongst the finest in the Whites) there are excellent views along the
ridge. A loop can be made by ascending by the Signal Ridge trail and
descending by the Desolation, Carrigain Notch and Signal Ridge trails (lp:
13.5 miles, 3,650 feet, 8:35), this is not only longer, but the Desolation
Trail is steep and rough.

发帖数: 1837 | 24 上周还在很高兴的看叶子，这周雪就下来了。可惜周末要出差，不然就可以上山看雪景
了。
上周去的是 Wasatch Crest Trail http://www.utah.com/bike/trails/wasatch_crest.htm，这是一条很流行的Mountain Bike Trail，如果骑车的话可以走一个很大的圈子。我们只走了从Guardsman Pass到Desolation Lake一段，不过对看秋色来说我觉得这一段是整条路线的精华部分，景色完全不属于很多国家公园。上照片：

我也试过另外一个法子，将买的鸡切成两半，用酒盐在冰箱腌制一两天，然后在烤箱内
低温40-50 度烤10多个小时（期间注意翻转）------也有腊鸡的味道，可解一渴 |

发帖数: 82482 | 27 到年底了，回头看看总结今年看过的几本书。感觉上今年大部分时间都泡在水里了，当然，这完全都是Patrick O'Brian的缘故。他的Aubrey-Maturin系列，总共二十本，今天已经看到第十七本了。所以，航海应该算是今年的主题。
好几年前，粗略看过这个系列的第一本书，《Master and Commander》，没有什么感觉。当时好像是Russell Crowe的同名电影刚上映，就把书拿过来翻翻。当时英语不好，说实话，没有怎么看懂。感觉非常晦涩，很多词字典里面都没有，就没有在意。囫囵吞枣看下来，反正战争动作场面还算精彩，而且作者的英国式幽默也算是很Charming，但是没有感觉非常特别。
今年年初的时候，把这个系列的第二本，《Post Captain》拿出来翻翻，感觉上容易好了很多。可能，这些年来英语有所长进；而且，几年来断断续续地翻看了不少关于帆船时代航海的参考书和图解的缘故。对于木制帆船的结构和航海技术有了粗略的了解，大体知道了Ship，Cutter和Barque的区别，知道了什么是 mizzen，topgallant，royal topgallant，以及studdingsa... 阅读全帖 |
