nurse)gave me an X-ray exam without told me in detail how many films they
would take. During the examination, after exposed about 10 films, the nurse
told me that there were still eight left. I asked the nurse if there would
be side effect and she told me not. Then I finished the whole 18 films
exposure. But the next day I began to get more than 10 ulcers in the lower
lip and tongue. It put me in a big pain and trouble. I |

腔的健康护理。我把几种常见的分类大概介绍一下，这样如果大家牙齿出问题，也知道
去找什莫医生。
1：General Dentist
这就是大家最常见的牙医了。他们通常给病人做常规的口腔检查，牙病治疗。 比如补
牙，拔牙，根管，牙冠，口腔保健的的科普等等。他们一般什莫都可以做， 但遇到比
较复杂的病例， 会推荐给以下专科医生做。
General Dentist一般拥有DDS 或DMD的学位， 这两者没有区别。通常是本科毕业以后
再完成4年的牙学院，才可以获得DDS 或DMD的学位。
2： Pediatric Dentist/Pedodontists
这是专门针对从一岁到TEEN AGE 年龄段的专科牙医，也就是通常所说的儿童牙医。他
们可以对儿童早期的口腔异常进行发现和治疗，包括早期的儿科整形并及时REFER给其
他的专科。
相对于General Dentist，Pediatric Dentist/Pedodontists会多至少两年已上，针对

Dental Insurance，Dentist在其network下，附件下是Claim EOB的截图。
图里显示的是：Metlife没有按Dentist office提供的Item付费($817)(可能用的是仿真
牙的牙冠，价格高些)，而是选择了价格低的($757)，并以此为标准付了50%($378.5)，
这些我理解。但是轮到我负责部分，却用的是($817-$378.5)，而不是($757-$378.5)。
我自己在整个过程中还算细心的，做了price estimation。当时也看到这个了，但没有
意识到我需要付这个价格差价。还以为dental insurance和我都是以这个低价格来付费
的。需要说明，Metlife提供的price estimation只说了它们cover多少，没有提供的是
patient要负责多少。另一方面，Dentist office小秘拿着price estimate跟我解释时

我的经验是：
1）不去连锁的DENTAL CLINIC。很多DENTIST都是GROUP PRACTICE。大家窝在一个名字
下面，DENTIST和DH都是流动的。开个人诊所的才是有能力的医生。
2）很多HYGEINIST刚刚毕业，手法轻重技巧都不成熟，事倍功半，甚至损伤牙龈，牙釉
质。DENTIST自己洗，就算洗地没有PROFESSIONAL的DH干净，但是他们心里有数不会乱
来。
不是每个DENTIST都门庭若市没空洗牙的（现在这个经济状况下）。我以前的DENTIST就
是有经验做预防和治疗，同时也洗牙的，这样很放心。最好能找到这样的。 |

The primary reason is finding a dentist in my city who can communicate with
me well is not easy. I cannot speak fluent English and I know only few of
words about dentistry. Some of them are teeth, toothpaste, toothbrush.

人。女儿的这个老爷爷orthodontist也是dentist推荐的，她的下牙容易咬到上鄂（我
们方言叫天花板），术语叫deep front bite。dentist让她去看orthodontist，
orthodontist说现在年纪还小，观察一阵再说。我也觉得他走路都有点蹒跚，有没有手
劲整牙啊，如果一两年以后瓜需要整牙。不过诊所很有乡村气息，两个女
receptionists热情招呼，和小孩玩，老爷爷orthodontist对她们也很亲切很personal
，不是那种都市的公事公办的样子，哈哈。你娃的牙好像也有点问题吗？好像有模糊印

dentist, dentist A is not in the list.
However, when I call dentist A, they told me they accept delta dental
insurance.
What is wrong here? Does dentist A accept my son’s dental insurance?

dentists are mostly quacks.
I had a dentist telling me that I have 4 cavities 15 years ago and 10 years
ago another dentist told me I have 3 cavity. 5 years I was told by a third
dentist that I had 1 cavity in my wisdom tooth.
I did nothing and still have all my wisdom teeth and I am fine.
I had tooth ache before but brushing with de-sensitizing toothpaste fixed it |

potentially make more money.
In PPO the dentist makes recommendations, and if it's covered (it should, as
long as it's not on the insurance's exclusion list) he gets $$$ from you
and the insurance by procedure.
In HMO he gets paid a fixed sum per patient, and the insurance decides what'
s "necessary". So in some cases things do not get covered, even if the
dentist think should be done. |

Why x-ray?
X-rays can see holes, but cannot see fracture well. You should thank your
dentist for saving you money and radiation.
Extraction is the correct treatment. But it is your tooth. So if you do not
want to extract the tooth, no dentist will force you to do it.
