Actually in this part of the world the risk is minimal because nobody would
give a sh*t about the bike you ride and you will be treated like nothing
more than a "lowly" cyclist. Over here, a poser is someone who is living
like a slave to afford a RMB300w apt. Actually there is something nice
about this anyway.
Regardless, I would say get what makes your heart move. Compared to 50-yr
old fat bald guys in their Maseratis, you will never be called a poser.

Here is the trick professional cyclist use at step 13. If you use it
correctly, you don't need a lever in most cases.
When you get to the point opposite to the air valve, the point where you
find it difficult to get the inner tube in, go back to the valve and start
pressing the outer tire against the wheel little by little from the valve
all the way around the wheel. This will squeeze some space out so that it

oh well, I'm not arguing against the point. BUT, don't we drive for fun too?
We drive to watch movies, drive to zoos, drive to restaurants, or just for

Is it right to block the car for 2 miles if it's safe to let pass? No. Do
such cyclists deserve a citation? Maybe. Do they deserve a crash or even the
risk of being killed? No.
That being said, I am toally in agreement with the responsibilities. I

说得好。Get more people to ride a bike. Brain wash your friends or
colleagues whenever you get a chance. Tell them how cyclists are
discriminated by the current traffic law and the way roads are built.
Talking about traffic law. In Oregon, a biker can treat red light as stop
sign, stop sign as yield under the consideration that momentum is much more
important for a biker than a driver. It is simply a lot more hassle and a
lot slower for a biker to stop completely and then restart than a driver. It

Maybe Oregon is different. It is a well known bike friendly state. Well, on

designed for cars not for bikes in most places. On the other hand, it is
yet another example that cyclists are discriminated. I have been riding for

That is good to know. I appreciate all of you sharing your experience with

Personally, I don't like this kind of media exposure before the

sport than doping itself. Don't forget these cyclists have undergone so many

This means and weighs much more to me than these unfounded reports.
Well you could argue that the anti-doping method cannot keep up with drug

It indeed involves some level of safty risks. I am pretty sure all the
experienced cyclist on this board had encoutered some riding accidents

you can do the best you can to mitigate the risk factors. The rest is purely
about luck and balance the gain and potential lose.

we are talking about beginners here. A beginner can ride at an extremely
leisurely pace with probably 20 watts output. A beginner runner, typically
will need a bit more effort to just be running at all.
The brutal truth about the distinction is, a running person will need to
move the body up and down, which requires effort. But a cyclist doesn't.

it's not like you'll get bike paths built in places no one rides. conflict
with cars is unavoidable as ridership grows. winning cases like this thereby
making the issues public is in fact how cyclists gain influence on how
roads are built and cities planned.

Struck from behind by a Civic. The driver must be speeding and not looking

How she managed to strike a cyclist on a road likes this, around 5pm in June

Serious cyclists those who ride and train for a race especially for a TT or
Triathlon race like to ride on this kind of long stretching road as it has
few traffic lights. Sadly, these are most likely the roads that lack bike
lane or even a shoulder. To expect or scare them away from riding on these
roads is unrealistic as riding/training is part of their lives.
By the way, those comments after the article are pretty educating for both
