Calvinists can, of course, find many scriptures describing man's evil heart
and practices. None of these scriptures, however, states that a man cannot b
elieve the gospel unless he is one of the elect and has been given that fait
h by a sovereign act of God.
Pink declares that "the sinner, of himself, cannot repent and believe." 20 F
or all of their insistence upon man's inability to believe the gospel and to

THEM THAT HATE ME"! (EXODUS 20:5)
Only four times in Scripture this phrase is recorded. In Exodus
20:5, Exodus 34:7, Numbers 14:18, and Deuteronomy 5:9. These are all in the
writings of Moses. In E...

4 If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I
have more: 5 circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the

as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law,
faultless.
I consider them garbage."

by C Michael PattonJuly 14th, 201411 Comments
There have been times, too numerous to count, when I went one way,
suspecting the Lord was heading in the same direction, only to find out the
heart-breaking reality that God was going a different direction.
People seek to confirm their worldview (belief system) in their experiences.
Christians are no different. I am no different. I’m constantly looking for
events, I call them “God-sightings”, that evidence what I already bel...

to Trinity Church, Cambridge in May of 1782. And he endured fruitfully there
through much fire for 54 years until his death November 13, 1836.
Simeon never married. He "had deliberately and resolutely chosen the…
celibacy of a Fellowship that he might…better work for God at Cambridge" (
Moule, Charles Simeon, 111).
His greatest influence was probably through sustained biblical preaching for
54 years. This was the central...
