GX1 and EM5 have the same problem of continuous auto focus.
V1 sets new performance bar in term of continuous auto focus for the
mirrorless system. The main reason for the V1 having fast continuous auto
focus is it has phase detection in addition to the constrast detection AF.
Sony NEX-5R and NEX-6 also have both(hybrid detection), but somehow Sony
didn't do good job(no major improvement in auto focus).

esom another big problem is its low burst rate. With these two problems(slow
AF and low burst rate) it is only good for static environment, not good for
sports and street activities. Slow AF also affect its video performance. V1
relatively PQ is not as good as eosm but it is really good for sports and
video. |

For V2: It says 42.8 sharp and 4.2 blurry.
For NEX-6: 3.5 sharp and 7.5 blurry.
What does 42.8 sharp mean(my question is for the decimal point) ?
Why did V2 take so many pictures, and NEX-6 take so few ?
Does it have something to do with their burst rate with AF tracking spec ?
I remember the NEX-6 burst rate with AF tracking is not that low, should be
around 8 FPS, and V2 is 15 FPS with AF tracking. Probably it's related to

刚看到了一些G7的4K photo介绍, 其中4Kphoto的pre-burst mode很有意思. 大家都有
过错过精彩瞬间的时候吧, 等发现了, 再按快门就已经晚了. 这个pre-burst mode就是
个一秒钟time machine.
不用预判, 一按快门, 按快门前一秒和后一秒一共60张就拍下来了.

It's higher level than that. It uses dynamically assigned
channels to carry data bursts. Basically, bigger burst uses
more links. See the project paper for details.
I guess it has to be TDM regarding buses, and it is self
designed cuz there are issues particular to switching
issues. We have our own switch element, input processor,
and output processor. PCI buses are not quick enough for
high end swicthes, I think. How do you keep up with OC-192
links? A 6-port switc |

包越大，coefficient值越大（出现burst error的机会越多），
需要更长的G(x)来counteract。
拿前面这个例子来说，如果信息位只有3比特，出现2比特错误的
情况只有C(4,2)，CRC failure rate 大约是6p^2/4p = 1.5p.
如果信息位有7比特（标准RS232传输），出现
2比特错误的情况有C(8,2). CRC failure rate is approx
28p^2/8p = 3.5p
如果信息包有1000比特（125字节），仍然一比特校验码，
CRC failure rate is approx C(100,2)p^2/100p = 45.5p,
比前面两种情况提高了一两个数量级。
这就是为什么RS232用奇偶校验，而包交换网络都用CRC校验的原因。
而且包越长，G(x)越长。G.707，ATM HEC都用7/8位G(x)，X.25，
蓝牙用CRC-16，而长包协议比如Ethernet，V.42，SATA都用CRC-32。

基本量都超了burst的极限了，你看到的可能是1ms burst赚了，
后面100ms持平，涨1%的performance
对5400rpm可能1.5gbps都多了
问题是，这年头1.5Gbps和6gbps的controller价格相当，
甚至1.5可能还贵点，因为没人生产
对厂家，一方面inventory,supply chain管理要求下降
一方面还能忽悠6gps,简直太合算了

Shri在planet，pulsar和gamma-ray bursts等领域都是观测上的大牛（几年前他在
arXiv上贴了一篇他自称是他的第一篇理论文章，似乎至今还未接受．．．），没办法
，他掌握了很多全世界最好的望远镜的观测时间．Shri发表的Nature文章印象中有四，
五十篇，是记录保持者．跟他的PhD学生毕业前都会有Nature一作的．
个人觉得Alicia的贡献没重要到拿Princeton,MIT法考题的程度，只不过她（１） 女
的，（２）老板是大拿．她的２个师兄，一个Joshua Bloom目前在伯克利做教授，一个
Edo Berger似乎也拿到了哈佛的法考题了．要看工作的话，Joshua Bloom是比他的师
弟师妹牛多了．前人种树，后人乘凉的道理大家都懂．
