Big-Theta is a tight bound, i.e. upper and lower bound.
When people only worry about what's the worst that can happen, big-O is
sufficient; i.e. it says that "it can't get much worse than this". The
tighter the bound the better, of course, but a tight bound isn't always easy
to compute.

You are correct, my previous post has bugs and did not address the overflow
issue properly.
Two methods to address:
i) find the upper bound of SQRT(INT_MAX) once and pass it into that function
. The upper bound can be found using a helper function that tests for
overflow. (ie, as soon as the condition when x > x*x is met, we knew x-1 is
the upper bound).
ii) declare the parameter x as unsigned int. Then initialize the upper bound
,

CPU Bound的话就用profiling tool看是具体哪个地方的问题。然后看看有没有可以改
进的地方。一般来说都是可以有可以改进的。要么就是降复杂度，要么就是减少malloc
/free操作。这个得具体问题具体分析了。
IO bound的话。就看你是disk io还是网络io了。网络io的话，就看有没有办法做load
balance，把流量做得平衡一些。 disk IO的话，如果还没有到disk throughput 的
limit，可以
增加线程。如果已经到disk io throughput的limit。可以看看是否可以减少disk io，
比如将数据
缓存在内存里，将random写变成sequential的写操作。
2. 很简单，能够发现问题的log就是好的log。server比较容易出现的问题: cpu
thread耗尽。 磁盘满，读写失败。network 的问题。cpu 空闲 0. |

这个证明的主要 trick，是不要画成类似 constructive 的递归不变式，因为这个
问题本质不是从底向上的 construction 问题。要画成类似 branch & bound
的递归不变式。
具体就是每个 node 下选奇偶分支时，mark 上假设该奇偶选择保持不变到底的 sum，
然后选最大的 lower bound 的 branch，recurse down 时不断 update lower bound，
就能证明。
我昨天陷在类似 constructive 的递归不变式里，就无法 handle 证明里的
trajectory change。类似 branch & bound 的递归不变式就能绕过 trajectory

520理论上最不堵，但是下班的时候west bound很堵，基本和90没有区别，east bound
相对好很多。90一样，下班west bound堵死。
I5从lake city到downtown南边有个expressway（不是carpool lane 不知道的自己搜）
所以最堵的时候总是下班的时候的south bound 因为没有express了。上下班你只要能
从express走，基本可以忍受 (极端情况除外）
405基本全程都堵，最堵的是90往南factorial到renton那一段 和kirkland totem lake

当tail处的概率小到一定程度的时候，比如10^30次方，这种事件的发生就是基本不可
能的了，因为人口才是10^10量级的。所以这种事情不发生，不代表概率模型就是
bounded。或者说完全没有必要用bounded的概率模型来描述貌似bounded的量，比如短
跑成绩。
注：当然，短跑成绩必须用正的分布来描述。normal不符合。其实lognormal可能局部
