Ph.D.学生论文答辩，我问了一些专业技术问题，学生伙同其老板和我们系中的全体论
文委员会成员（除了外系的委员）一起把我告到Associate Dean，说我干扰论文答辩。
我只是在正常提问时间问了问题，以及在答辩开始前问了一个程序问题（为什么不公开
通知？为什么不公布论文摘要？）提问时间结束之后，我立即离场，没干扰论文委员会
的投票。就因为这，我又成了被告，说我问了太多问题，干扰学生回答问题，说话语调
不对，等等。Associate Dean连同HR一起拷问我，又要给我纪律处分。有人建议我请律
师，有必要吗？
这不是坑，但我是奇葩，遇到的事也是只有奇葩才能遇到的事。 |

后我看他title刚变成Research Associate Professor. 我问他为什么不转tenure
track, 他说在tenure track上升级比较难而且有时钟，而系里答应他再拿一个R01就可
申请转Associate Professor with tenure，所以比较机动.
请问这种情况有成功的例子吗? |

当然。但是他说从Research Associate Professor也是可以升到tenured
associate professor的，只要他满足要求，比如再拿一个R01。不是必须从TTAP往上升。 |

没错，医学院teaching一般会弱，但其他方面条件不能弱，比如发表文章，editorial
board, invited talks, international recognition之类。
他的意思是如果转TTAP需要三年后评，但是他现在只要等CV够的话可以随时评tenured
associate professor（我想主要是要第二个R01），所以更机动。
另外，如果本系不能转成tenure,能否找到其他学校（可能稍弱）tenured associate
professor? |

今天拿到一个temporary research associate的offer,6个月，说是可能延长到10个月
。工资和博后差不多。自己买保险之类的话可能还要少一点了。
面试的时候和几个人谈了谈，感觉做的挺低级的，就做centrifugation，可能加一点
chromatography.不过这个工作的POSTING的要求只是本科毕业，一年实验室经验。
不知道这个工作对以后找工作有没有帮助，从技术上好像没有。另外没有电话面试就让
我去on-site,刚回来就有HR打电话说特别喜欢我，要我星期一就去orientation.
PS:正在原来老板的实验室做生物博后，OPT开始了几个月。没有找博后的动力，不过6个月
以后这个temporary工作结束，不知道怎么样。
求建议，多谢！ |

我现在就是拿得Ｒesearch Associate的title，干得Ｐostdoc的活
也没说不能发文章
工资因为是grant funded，所以都是老板说了算
当然benefit要比postdoc好不少，比如401k，保险什么的都要好一点
不过据说今年开始postdoc的待遇也被提高到和staff一样了
最关键的是我们学校不帮postdoc sponsor 绿卡申请
RA的话属于staff范畴，干满2年以后至少有可能让学校sponsor EB1b或者EB2
不过这个也是各个学校规定不一样
BTW：那个老板太mean了，
Research Associate by definition是能够conduct independent research under the
supervision of PI. 要不然 都叫 research assistant 或者techniqian算了 |
