research associate），我在employment verification letter里面写哪个更好呢？这
里面涉及到起始工作日期的区别。听有人说postdoc 不算permanent position，所以有
时候有一定比例的RFE（虽然不高），如果是research assistant区别大么？我个人觉
得好像也没多大差别吧？会不会反而让人觉得级别不高？ |

校的律师着手准备申请绿卡。希望能早排队。绿卡类型EB2 perm.
现在是今年8月就可以提到senior lecturer 了，然后因为干的好，院长和校长都很满
意，开始考虑可以未来2-3年给assistant professor.
现在有问题了，律师说。。。只要我的title 变了，不管是senior lectuer 还是
assistant professor，绿卡申请都要重新来！！！我觉得不合常理阿？！大家努力工
作不就是为了promotion 生活过的好一点吗？难道为了等绿卡，我要拒绝一切
promotion?
能不能请教这里有经验的人给指点一下？ 非常感谢！ |

本人来美国第一年的时候F1，去医院看病，保险cover后，还有750美金左右的账单。对
学生来说是一笔大的数目。当时医院建议试试申请了麻州的Health safety net（
Medcaid的一种）。后来成功批了下来。（仅仅使用这一次）。
这个问题是否应该填写Yes。如果是，是否需要写一个statement。会对审批有很大影响
吗？
BTW,党员的问题，考古后，理解是都可以。我倾向于实话实说，写个statement。这个
想法正确吗？

要求办理H1B和马上sponsor绿卡申请？且不说这个谈判的要价高不高，就说USCIS的政
策允不允许？我查了EB2上没提要求permanent full-time job offer, EB3则明确说要
求permanent full-time job offer。一个VAP renewable up to 5 years 算是
permanent job 么？

最近面了两个学校，学校A是稍微好点的学校，但是visiting Assistant Professor,
renewable up to 5 years。这个职位是替代系里一个去做学校Dean的老师，因为
tenure line在他手里，所以只能雇VAP替他，因为工会的规定，又只能雇VAP同一个人

原因很简单，医院只是给你免除一部分或全部医疗费，不是给你钱。

然是assistant professor。
我看了下他们学校的tenure handbook，上面说第4年是review for promotion to
associate。然后第5年是associate term begins。Harvard的associate professor是
没有tenure的，要在第7年被review for promotion to tenured professor，如果pass
了，第8年是final year of associate term or tenured professor.
那么这个教授为什么第6年还是AP。handbook上没写，如果没被promote to associate
，会怎么样。

院是这样的，寄一份申请表给我，主要有一个Income的表格，我需要填上"Gross wage"
,"Interest & Dividends", "Self-Employment income"等等以及总收入。然后附上我
最近一年的1040表寄回去。有1040，别的证明就不用了。他们就会根据材料决定给不给
我资助。
现在我有个问题，我今年还没有1040表，也还没有整理出全部的收入。应该就把去年4
月file上去的08年的1040给他们吧。那income表中我可以填的08年的数字吗，也就跟
1040表显示的一样？还是必须得填目前的收入？——我的情况是，如果用most recent
tax year的收入申请大概就符合，用目前的工资申请好像就过了贫困线了。
另外还有一项是要圈选monthly income的。那我可以用前面填的08年的总收入除以12么
？可是他们要是打电话给我公司问我现在一个月挣多少，那就对不上了。

看大家争来争去， 说到了俺以前的本行，感觉做我这行的不多， 有些东西值得分享，
一直没有好好写出来，现在我也来说两句吧。我的point是， 老了一定要回国， 而且
能早回就早回。
我以前是在一个州政府里面专门管medicare和medicaid的部门工作的， 俺的任务就是
每天出去检查州里面的各个nursing home， 老人公寓， 还有各种名目的私立的公立的
来照顾别人的， 有人长期居住在里面的那些机构。 检查的越多， 其实越是坚定了我
要回国的信心。
不管是luxury的nursing home， 还是穷人住的政府付钱的nursing home， 我都检查了
很多， 其实两者都是一样的miserable， 唯一的能让这些老人们的生活有些不同的就
是家人的陪伴。 有些家里会每天都轮流派子女去陪老人， 很多年如此， 这样的老人
， 过得很开心， 但是想起来， 不也和咱们国内的那些老人和孩子住在一起的情况相
似吗？
在这些nursing home里面， 我也常常遇到一些中国老人， 大部分都是第一代移民，以

助教这个词其实很模糊，还有一个意义是Teaching Assistant, 就是教授的助手。而
Assistant Professor是教授的一种，翻译成助教或者副教授都有点不那么对劲。一个
太弱，一个有点不是直译。
所以抓着这点东西不放那纯粹是胡搅蛮缠。 |
