With "Chinese" prominently printed and a couple of cute pandas.
It's basically a way to tell whether he's sincere or not. If he refuses to
wear a cute t-shirt for 60 days, then obviously he's not sincere in apology
. If he's willing to accept our t-shirt request, give us free positive
publicity, then we should let him off the hook and say forgive and forget.

would give Kimmel a choice, but naturally I don't speak for others.
Everybody should have a criteria for "sincere apology". It may be a
different thing for different people. But a common minimal criteria is
useful to avoid an infinite loop. |

The BBS was shutdown to analyze possible disk issues, but I made a mistake
during the maintanence that partially corrupted it (a wrong command option
of 'badblocks').
Fortunately 3K has full backup for JHQ and user info, 3-month old mail, and
1-year old articles. I wrote a utility to recover about 400 thousand recent
articles by reading raw disk blocks.
The end result is that we lost |

microbe道歉过了，该我了。
2000年前后那次硬盘大毁灭后，我是又买tape drive，又买硬盘，
做了很详细的备份。
但一晃几年过去了，服务器也换过几次了，tape drive也懒得连上了，
为了省事，一些备份命令也comment起来了。在To do list上标了
无数次了，要重新搞个备份计划，但一直到现在都没有实施。
结果，老祖宗的话发挥作用了：常在水边走，哪有不湿鞋。
感谢microbe的辛勤工作，感谢各位网友的支持。我会做好备份的。
另外说点题外话，这一天我在想，人说到底是非常偷懒的动物，
好了伤疤忘了疼，9/11这样的事情，我估计再过几年，美国就会
松懈了。核武器也总有一天会落在大家的头上，那样也好，大家回到
mother nature，重新开始。大家总说：有始必有终，人类也没有

昨天，中新社和新华社同时发文（新浪等国内媒体转载），用中英双语宣布ABC公开道歉
并且称Kid's Table将被取消
今天再到google上一搜，标题还在，但是正文已经改了，说是ABC的spokesman
私下里给中新社新华社联系，但新华社回拨了电话无人接听
虽然是 ABC 自己网站上面的，可是没有任何 ABC 的高管 take responsibility。上次
就算是给80－20的信还有高管签名呢，这个news link什么都不算的。这就是一个狡猾
的fake。
很明显ABC／Disney已经感觉到了压力，我们需要继续努力，取得他们真正的道歉。

其中一个细节有点自相矛盾 - at first you are saying "not sure where and how
you heard about it, the only apology is on his show", then you say that you
do know about his apology outside the studio... 建议修改一下。

The website of Clifford Kubiak from UCSD had a page in poor taste taken down
recently. The website listed the lab rules to follow while working in the
Kubiak group. Most of the rules are written in a tongue-in-cheek fashion
covering basic safety awareness. However, Lab Rule #3 stands out. The image
of the offending website is shown below, and implies that the word of
Chinese colleagues should not be trusted.

去年10月19日，华人华侨在白宫网站发起请愿，要求“请立即掐掉那档节目并发布正式
道歉”（“Please immediately cut the show and issue a formal apology.”。其
中并没有要求开除吉米的内容，英文全文见附录）
这个请求并没有明确说明要求谁掐掉节目并道歉，不过可以理解为是要求白宫（美国联
邦政府）这么做。
近日，美国白宫就此作出了回应。
第一段，讲述了道歉的要求早已经被实现，而且ABC电视台已经修改了这档节目（永久
性地取消肇事的“儿童圆桌会议”）。
第二段，重申了去年在回应中央电视台时白宫发言人的声明，就是美国政府认为吉米鸡
毛秀中出现的言论不代表美国对中国的主流看法。也重申了美国乐意看到中国和平崛起
的观点。这段也相当于回应了白宫无需为自己不认同的言论道歉的立场。
第三段，回应了“掐掉那个节目”的要求。那档什么节目？“儿童圆桌会议”早就被
ABC电视台取消了，显然无需再取消一次。第二种可能，那档节目指的是吉米鸡毛秀节
目。
