毒资产剥离，Ambac在过去3个交易日股价出现暴涨。
该股在周二下午最高上涨了8%，至2.43美元，较上周四的64美分的收盘价上涨了
280%以上。
该股周二成交十分踊跃，目前已有5亿以上股票易手。FactSet Research的数据显
示该股通常每周的成交量还不到7500万股。
该股周二盘中最高上涨了30%以上，但在摩根大通分析师称Ambac股票没有价值时，
该股开始回落。
摩根大通分析师Andrew Wessel在一份研究报告中表示，“Ambac当前的交易完全是
投机。”
Ambac在上周四公布财报后便开始飙升，因获得一笔巨额税项收益，该公司第四季
度实现净盈利。该股上涨的主要原因在于投资者认为在监管部门完成对其资产重组后，
余下的优秀资产将显现出价值。
州保险业监管机构在上月披露，将剥离Ambac的主要保险业务Ambac Assurance来保

SAN FRANCISCO -- Moody's Investors Service said Wednesday that it may
downgrade the Aaa ratings of Ambac Financial and MBIA Inc. because the bond

crunch.
MBIA shares slumped 13% to $5.84 during afternoon trading after the ratings

bond insurance only, rating is BBB. AMBAC was bankrupt, but the risk for
insured bond still lower than uninsured if the underlying rating is similar.
Currently I hold a Stockton bond which is insured by MBIA who paid me
interest this Mar and Sept when the issuer default. Let's see if it can pay
me the interest and principal until 2024, the yield is 6%, coupon 4.25%,
bought at market price $84 for $100 face value. |

CD bought at May 2008 when the S&P 500 was 1400. If you put it in a tax
deferred account, 45% total return when it mature at 2015. S&P 500 return is
up 32% until now, need up another 10% to May 2015, for the index above 2000
just break even with my CD investment.
The problem is current CD rate is low. So individual bonds, especially 5-10
year lower investment grade municipal bond with AGM/MBIA or even AMBAC

coupon "all", with maturity date 2018, 2019 or any date you want. Check bond
ask price, compared with 3rd party price. If the ask price is much lower
than 3rd party price and not because of downgrade, check bond information to
see it is insured or no and recent activities. You buy individual muni bond
like catch a deal after screening, then you can hold it to maturity with

The troubled former financial giant signaled that it is in discussions over
a pre-packaged bankruptcy deal. The company also said that it may decide to
cease making interest payments on its debt prior to any move. By stopping
interest payments, Ambac falls into default of its debt. Creditors can then
sue to force a bankruptcy or the company can declare bankruptcy protection
to renegotiate terms with creditors. |

investment grade like AA or above whose rate is too low to offset interest
hike risk after 2015.
You can achieve 4-5% tax free yield with same duration time by purchasing
AGNC/MBIA/AMBAC insured individual bonds with lower investment grade rating
like A/A-/BBB+.
HYD High-Yield Muni ETF with 5.3% yield is OK because individual high yield
bonds have much higher default risks than investment grade munis. |

maybe for the whole market.
Right now, Ambac and MBIA can't attract any businss from the munis market
already, with the market's suspection on whether they are able to keep their
AAA ratings. In other words,they have no new business at all at present.
You can image how bad a situation a company is in without ongoing businss.
