湾区offer是硬件公司的软工，senior title：15.5万 base + 1万sign on+1万bonus+
relocation (1万现金＋搬家服务）
西雅图offer 是一个大公司，做软件的，不是senior title, 做data center
information structure , 13万base+ 2万sign on/ 2yr+10% bonus+3万股票／5yr+
relocation (具体不详)
现在的情况是湾区的硬件公司感觉还能再多给一点，具体数字还没有谈。
我本人虽然是软工，但是一直在硬件公司写嵌入式。从来没有在纯软件公司做过。
从工资水平，职业发展前景方面比较，去哪个公司比较好。 |

Please keep in mind: currently 5yr ARM is more than 1% lower
than 30yr fixed. I once calculated, if the diff is 1%, the
break-even point (in the worst case for ARM) is ~8 years.
By worst case I mean the rate will be much higher than after
5 years and every year it adjusts to the max.
So if you choose 5 yr ARM, even if you sell house after 8 yrs,
you still save $$$ compare to stay with 30yr fix. |

in 5yrs, you get the benefit and buy it then. Meanwhile you can enjoy your
life now and postpone the trouble of moving.
Downside is you may lose money if market go down. but you lose anyway if you

1. you can take 401k loan to pay your mortgage
2. you can take 401k loan to pay downpayment
3. 401k loan is usually 5Yr term, but could be 15Yr
4. You pay back the interest to your 401k account monthly
5. the interest is not tax deductable
6. you can't contribute to your 401k account until the 401k loan is payed in
full
7. 401k loan will not affect your mortgage rate |
