HR 5767, the bill that would stop implementation of the United States’
Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, has taken a step forward in the
House of Representatives.
The House Committee on Financial Services will review and possibly amend the
legislation, H.R. 5767 starting on June 24.
According to a press release from the Safe and Secure Internet Gambling
Initiative:

On Tuesday or Wednesday of this week your US Representative will cast a
critical vote on the future of poker. Your voice must be heard before this
important vote!
Background: Unless Congress takes action, regulations to implement the
Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) will soon take effect.
These regulations threaten to snuff out, once and for all, your right to
play the great game at the time and place of your choice.

The House Financial Services Committee defeated HR 5767 on Wednesday, a bill
that would have blocked implementation of the Unlawful Internet Gambling
Enforcement Act.
The committee, chaired by the main sponsor of the bill, Barney Frank (D-Mass
