H Status: New CIS Memorandum Provides Important Benefits
On December 5, the CIS issued a memo which provides guidance to its officers
in determining periods of admission for persons in H status.
The memo clarifies certain portions of the American Competitiveness in the
21st Century Act of 2000 (AC-21) in ways which are beneficial to persons in
H status and to their employers:
A) Periods of time spent in the U.S. as H-4 dependents do NOT count against
time limitations.
