First let me say yes there was a one day one time Amazon 500 deal for this
same TV, it was an end of year, bonus up the sales figures for both Amazon-
Panasonic....they got them on the books.
That deal is gone, yet this price at 550 is still Hot to let others know
about it here.
Compare this to what is out there currently and you see why it is hot. I
don't think you can touch this for anything close to 150-250 more.
1. California tax is 10% + 16 waste fee. That is at least 75 dollars more
for any local price. Amazon is tax free, and no waste fee.
2. This is 42 not 40, which makes it very very close to a 46, I have seen
40 to 46 and it a noticeable difference.
3. This is a 120hz model....you can either use it, or as many like just
turn it off. But you have the option....this unit is priced lower than 60hz
only.
4. This is an IPS screen so off angle is great. IMO the Samsung/Sony
panels are still better because they are as good off angle and have a better
black level.....but both Samsung at this price point is a panel lottery,
you may or many not get the actual S-PVA next gens.
5. The IPS screen gives better facial tones than other Sony-Sammy
6. This for sure is an LG screen....it is not a IPS-Alpha....FWIW the 2011
42s won't be Alpha either.
7. This uses EEFL not Compact Florescent. Basically these have better
color and longer life, and less energy...they are closer to CCFL than LED
Basically its a greener version of CCFL with slight improvements on all
levels. Because of the design they are less likely to be damaged by
physical impacts.
8. Panasonic currently has the best or equal to the best, Standard Def
display. Sony used to be far and away number on on this. My Direct TV
still has plenty of SD only channels....so this is still a consideration.
9. Panasonic --- Consumer reports most reliable TV brand.
So before anyone pees on this as not being hot enough, because they are not
even looking for this TV at this time.....offer anything better than this
deal, for quality and price.
Anyone in California or a high tax state saves a bundle just on Tax and 16
dollar disposal fees
If you got a better deal lets see it.....

Oh and there is one LIKE NEW option in used at the time of this posting for
506 in Amazon warehouse. I have ordered like new from Amazon before....it
means Open Box, but not unpacked ever. A return from someone who went with
something else and returned it with setup. This is for the Like New
option...which is all I have experience with. Very good for all I know may
be close.
