发帖数: 2301 | 7 I switched my job to TX last Jan for a Canadian-USA company. I was let go in
last November.Fortunately, I found another job in same city at same time. I
do thank GOD since it was tough time in my life to suffer this great group.
I have many years experience in engineering so when I started the nightmare
job in last Jan, I thought it should be a piece of cake for me to hit the
ground running with my previous skills, knowledge, working habits, and so on
. But oppositely, everything went wrong so quickly but I did not realize and
fix it as fast as I could.At the beginning, I still had some conversations
with my boss and after a couple of months it was hard to talk to them any
more.This sign ddint bring my attention because I thought it was ok and did
same things in my previous job. Then after a few months, I got an oral
warning for my performance with my boss and my boss' boss and i did feel
shocked. At that moment, I realized I might be in a big trouble due to this
miscommunication.I did 2 things after this: 1) reflect my performamce but it
is hard for me to think of any positive things with my boss since they have
given bad impression on me 2) look for next job.
With these thoughts, my stuation just were getting worse and worse.
After another month, a paper performace mprovement plan came to me and I
knew I didnt have too much time with this company so I took all my effort
and time to hunt for next job within 60 days. And I was so lucky to get one
at same time when they told me the final decision in last november. What I
have learned from this job:
1)Thank God to look at the bright side of things anytime
2)Keep effective communication with my amanger all the time. Pay attention
to any negative signs and take immediate action to fix it.
3)Once a warning is given, be prepared for next job and no illusion at all
with your manager at all.Dont waste any time.
Looking backward, last year was so tough but I have been through and hope my
experience might be helpful for your career development.
