one of co-workers, then she seriously emailed me said my tone is
inappropriated, I will copy paste here, can anyone give me opinions.....my
tone really sounds inappropriated?
My original email:
Nothing heard from Department A….I am not positive about if they can get
anything for us since they said all their old database was crashed.
My co-worker's reply:
I am aware I am not your supervisor or your direct boss but I wanted to let
you know that the below response was inappropriate. It is our responsibility
as our department to keep up with funds for Foundations and Subcontracts,
even if that means we have to follow up for several weeks..I appreciate your
effort on following up on this. If you are overwhelmed and do not have time
to follow up , I'll be more than happy to do so just let me know in a
separate email.
Just so you know Timothy might forward this email to his Management and
complain about us to our Management. |

your problem is that you mixed your own suspicion/judgment (which could be
wrong) "I am not positive about if they can get anything" in an email sent
to another department (not yours).
your email better goes like this:
currently dept. A is experiencing some technical difficulties with their
legacy databases. we will keep you updated as soon as we hear something back
from them.

but donot put negative words in email.
People can read in different ways and different tones.
They can read again and again.
They can forward it to different people.
They can come back to you years later if then want to.
so...
Always express in a positive way in email.

Seriously, she's talking in your boss's tone and treating you like a child.
Even though your email does show an attitude problem, it's not her business
to educate you like that. If I were you, I would work with the other
receipient and get the thing settled first, then go to her office and tell
her in face that she can save all the words for herself cause she's the
inappropriate one in this case. If she has a problem with your work ethic,
she should discuss that with your boss or HR instead of pretend to be one of
them. |

自己应该负责记录款项的去向，而不是依赖于部门A的数据。
当然，她的看法是不是对，局外人不得而知，但在我看来她没有
