Chinese Culture and Education Foundation)
So your check will be Paid to ACCEF, Memo: Yin Yu (Alex) Family Education

You can do cash donations as well to this foundation with the “Yin Yu (Alex
) Family Education Fund” specified.
If you donate to the Family fund via ACCEF, Qualcomm and some other
companies can match your donations 100% and it will be tax deductible to you
as well. Please see details below. It will help out Alex’s family much
more than just writing a personal check. Please do not forget to request
Qualcomm matching.
Alex’s Memorial service is on Saturday. Separate announcement will be sent
out.

For folks who want to donate and they do not work at Qualcomm, it would be
better to donate through ACCEF as they will get tax deduction benefits.
All donations to ACCEF must specify “Yin Yu (Alex) Family Education Fund”.
This is extremely important.
Option 2, Write a check to Alex’s Wife directly.
You can give the check to your building volunteer or mail to Lei directly.
There will no matching from Qualcomm and no tax deductible to yourself. It
would help Alex’s family more if you were donating through foundation.

We are setting up web site in memory’s Alex, face book pages with Pay Pal
links and other payment options. We are also setting up method to collect
money in China. It will come very soon. However this will get us started.
Please share this with your friends at Qualcomm and outside Qualcomm. The
donations can easily go beyond Chinese communities. Please feel free to
share with your co-workers and your friends. The power of people is
enormous if every one of us just does a little bit. As a group, the support
can be quite decent for Alex’s families. Also, we encourage people to

We, the committee of Alex Yin’s friends at Qualcomm, has worked with
American Chinese Culture and Education Foundation (ACCEF) setup an education
foundation for Yin’s family, to accept donation to provide long term
support for Yin’s family. We would like to thank all the people who worked
over the weekend helping finalize the process and details of this foundation.
About ACCEF
ACCEF is non-profit (501(c)(3)), non-political, and non-religious national
charity organization in the U.S. It’s a qualified charity organization
listed on Qualcomm’s Easy Match program. In the past, Qualcomm employees
have worked with ACCEF to help people affected by the 2008 Sichuan
earthquake and children in Gui Zhou mountain area (via Ran Lu’s education

Why ACCEF
ACCEF is a qualified 501(c)(3) charity organization on Qualcomm’s Easy
Match program. Similar to other charitable donations, every dollar donated
to ACCEF to Yin’s family is tax-deductible and qualified for Qualcomm
matching grant program. We encourage people make donation via ACCEF to
maximize the benefit to Yin’s family.
Example: Assuming 40% tax rate. $100 donation to Yin’s family directly (
post-tax) is equivalent to $167 pre-tax donation plus $167 Qualcomm match,
which is $334 in total.
** Check is preferred. PayPal is also available but with a very high fee.
** We encourage people to consider providing long term support, instead of
one-time donation. We want our love and care can help Yin’s three children
grow to their full potential.

Questions and Answers
1.1.
1. You can write the check or Pay Cash to ACCEF. It is tax
deductible to you regardless of the contributions you make if you go through
ACCEF.
2. If you donate over $50, Qualcomm will match. So ball park the
total will be $100 if you donate $50. However, the cost to you will be about
$25 considering the highest bracket of Fed and State tax. So it is ball
park 4 times. There are some fees involved when we go through the
foundation. 15% of the matching fund (only the matching fund) will be used
for Foundation administration. However, it is still much better than if you
write a check to his wife directly as you will not get no tax benefits if
you write a check to his wife directly. | l*****6
