4. Joe heard about the term "child labor" recently.
5. Surprised that those kids even got paid, because he was not paid, and
even got a D- for his volunteer work.
This somehow reflects one of the famous observations by Mark Twain: If you
are not paid, or even need to pay to do something, it is fun; but if you are
paid to do the same thing then it is hard work.
The joke actually prompts the audience to think a little about poverty and
child labor in a different light. Not bad at all. |
