这还是林肯竞选参议员时候的事情. 与同时代的很多人相比, 他已经很超前了.
实际上后来林肯竞选总统的时候, 由于林肯过去强硬的废奴立场, 南方各州公开表示如
果林肯当选, 他们就要独立.
所以林肯在竞选中, 和当选后, 都对南方各州表示了一定程度的妥协.
但林肯的当选仍然成为了南方独立的导火线.
南北战争开打以后, 虽然有废奴的强大呼声, 林肯仍然没有草率从事.
这才是一个伟大的政治人物的特点.
