By Nick Gass
The White House brushed off the notion Wednesday that increased turnout on
Super Tuesday points to enthusiasm for Republican frontrunner Donald Trump.
During the daily briefing with reporters, Press Secretary Josh Earnest said
that "there were not actually too many battleground states that convened —
primaries or caucuses, last night," paying heed to Minnesota and Virginia
while noting that the latter state was "aggressively contested" in the last
two presidential cycles, won both times by President Barack Obama.
"When you take a look at the results, you see that the winner of the
Democratic primary drew far more votes than the winner in the Republican
primary," Earnest said. Hillary Clinton received 503,358 votes in the
Virginia Democratic primary, while Trump got 355,960 in the Republican
contest. "So it is clear that the winner of the Democratic primary is the
candidate in Virginia that has the most support in Virginia. I think that is
an indication of the level of excitement on the Democratic side."
In Minnesota, the situation is "even more pronounced" in some respects,
Earnest said, noting that both Clinton and Bernie Sanders, who won the state
's caucuses, received more votes individually than any GOP candidate.
"So I think that this is an indication that there is ample enthusiasm on the
Democratic side, particularly in the places where it matters most in the
general election," he said. "I think what is also true is that again, based
on the public reporting from all of you, that at least some of the strong
turnout in the Republican party was actually due to hostility to the current
Republican frontrunner. And that would also be a troubling dynamic for
Republicans in a general election if that were to occur."
Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz downplayed
the higher Republican turnout rate, telling CNN in an interview that the
opposition party is in "absolute and utter chaos."
"Where there was a more competitive contest in those states we had nearly
the turnout that Republicans did," she said.

每个共和党候选人得票数要少。MN 是个深蓝州,对大选没有决定意义。 | s*********r 发帖数: 9493 | 9 确实是这么回事。
但是,很可惜,大多数的黑人会继续支持他,会继续保护他的legacy。
