in 2015 America

(CNSNews.com) -- Reverend C.L. Bryant, creator of the film Runaway Slave and
host of the new radio show America on the Edge, says that skin color is no
longer an obstacle to opportunity in America.
“In the year 2015, as all of us should know by now, there is not one thing
that I, as a black American – to speak in colors as we do here in America
– can point to or think about that the color of my skin would hinder me or
stop me from doing if I want to do it,” Bryant, a former NAACP chapter
president, explained on the July 2nd Sean Hannity show.
“There is a trend towards creating victims in this country everywhere you
turn around, and it’s also creating an underclass, that if we continue down
this path, we will regress American history instead of progress towards a
great American future,” he continued.
Here is the transcript of what Bryant said:
“I am able to pursue the great endowment that our founders set up for us
and that is the pursuit of my life, my liberty and my happiness. There is
nothing standing there in the way of this, according to my upbringing, given
to me by my Creator.
"None of us have the same abilities. We have different abilities but we all
in 2015 America have the right and the opportunity to exercise our God-given
abilities. It’s just the problem of so many of us who refuse to do that.
“And then there is a trend towards creating victims in this country
everywhere you turn around, and it’s also creating an underclass, that if
we continue down this path, we will regress in American history instead of
progress toward a great American future as we stand here on the threshold of
our 236th birthday of this great nation.
“There are too many examples – over and over – in this nation of people
overcoming poverty, color, background, what have you. America is a place
where it doesn’t matter who your father was.
"Even back in the days of slavery, Frederick Douglass set that particular
example. Even as a runaway slave, he, in fact, found himself to be in the
land of opportunity. He himself, that today would have died a millionaire if
we were counting his dollars in today’s terms.
"So no, there is nothing, if you want to do it in 2015 America, that the
color of your skin would stop you from doing. I do not believe it.” | D*******o 发帖数: 3229 | 2 Great talk, but it cannot make headline news. |
