The FCC is all up in the NFL's b-i-z these days. On Tuesday, the Federal
Communications Commission lifted the archiac blackout rule it's had in place
for several decades.
It also discussed the possibility of banning the term "Redskins" from public
airwaves.
Responding to a question about a petition to have the term banned, FCC
Chairman Tom Wheeler said the commission "will be dealing with that issue on
the merits, and we'll be responding accordingly."
So they might not do anything, really. Or they might!
Per CBS DC, Wheeler didn't offer any sort of timeframe for how the FCC might
deal with the petition.
He has, however, called the nickname Redskins "offensive and derogatory," so
there's a chance the FCC could move on the topic in the future. | T*********I
