Gradual decrease in working hours

estimated that the average work week was over 60 hours per week.[15] Today
the average hours worked in the U.S is around 33.[16] The front runners for
lowest average weekly work hours are the Netherlands with 27. hours,[17] and
France with 30 hours.[18] At current rates the Netherlands is set to become
the first country to achieve an average work week under 21 hours.[19]
The New Economics Foundation has recommended moving to a 21 hour standard
work week to address problems with unemployment, high carbon emissions, low
well-being, entrenched inequalities, overworking, family care, and the
general lack of free time.[3][4][5] Actual work week lengths have been
falling in the developed world.[6]
Factors that have contributed to lowering avarage work hours and increasing
standard of living have been:
Technological advances in efficiency such as mechanization, robotics and
information technology.
The increase of women equally participating in making income as opposed
to previously being commonly bound to homemaking and childrearing exclusivly.
Dropping fertility rates leading to less hours needed to be worked in
order to support children.
Peoples over all income has been increasing leading to a tendency to
choose less time working for income.[20]
荷兰工作小时已经是27小时了, 还有人提议缩短到21个小时. 比你的建议少多了吧.
