Taumoefolau had learned about an argument his stepson had had with his
mother on August 27 and told him to go to the garage.
He grabbed the teenager by the collar causing him to fall to the ground and
hit his head. Taumoefolau picked up the spirit level and hit him twice
across the buttocks and on the arm while the teenager was on the ground.
When he tried to get up and apologise, the boy was hit four or five times
more and received extensive bruising as a result.
