Why I am a Mormon
I became a Mormon because of its family based and family centred beliefs and
teaching. It teaches people about God who is our Heavenly Father and His
son Jesus Christ who is our Saviour and the saviour of the World.
I love becaming a Mormon because it teaches mankind of their potential and
their true relationship to a God who is merciful and full of compassion
despite mankinds weakness and imperfections.
I became a Mormon because I now know who I am now and my family relationship
with my childrens dont end here but extends all the way towards Eternity
and there is no end to our existence.
I am a Mormon by choice, and no one force this upon me, but my own self, I
have an agency to chose my own destiny and I am grateful that we have Gods
mouthpiece or his prophets who continues to receive counsel from God and
Jesus Christ today about the conditions our world, and how to safeguard and
protect families from the calamities that are foretold by ancient prophecies
and the scriptures. |

Why I am a Mormon
I didn't know what a Mormon meant when I had new neighbours move in. But
over a few months I got to meet my neighbours over the back fence whilst I
was hanging out nappies. I met the misssionaries as well and was impressed
by the feelings I felt when they were in my home. I wasn't looking for
religion at the time but I wanted to understand the reason why they had this
different presence about them. As they taught me I began to feel the spirit
more in my home and I had an experience where I was protected from harm
because they happen to be in my home teaching me. I learnt that if you are
in the right place at the right time we will be blessed. When I learnt that
my Heavenly Father loves me and wants me to come home to Him after this life
, my heart soared and I desired to have that, more than anything else. To
understand who I am as Gods daughter and a way has been made for me to
return to my heaven's home filled me with a joy I can't describe. Then to
learn that families can be sealed for eternity. That the love and curiousity
I had for my ancestors was for a purpose that I was able to be a link to
bring them together. That they never have to part again in death has brought
me to tears in the sealing rooms of our temples. I had an experience this
year when I visited Scotland and met a man who shared the same name as an
ancestor I had. As we spoke he shook his head marvelling at how much I
looked like his sister ( I finally found someone I look like) As we talked
for that hour it became very clear to me that I had the same checky
personality as he had. In parting I felt peaceful in the knowledge that we
have traits and physical connections to our past relatives and they are just
as important as those we give birth to. I am a mormon because I prayed to
know with a honest heart, a broken heart to know if these things were true
that the missionaries were teaching me. With tears running down my face I
felt a peace and calmness come over me. I received my answer...YES |

Why I am a Mormon
I grew up in a Nazarene church, and it was very nice, but I never felt like
I had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ or my Heavenly Father. When
I joined the military after high school I stopped attending church and came
to believe that no "organized religion" could bring me closer to God.
One day a friend arranged for the full-time missionaries to visit my home
and leave me with a copy of the Book of Mormon; I agreed to read a few pages
and let them know what I thought. I'm so glad that I actually did! Within a
few pages I knew that I had stumbled onto truths that I had been missing my
entire life. I prayed - to know if what I was reading was true & had
actually happened - and I received a sweet confirmation from the Holy Ghost
that this was truly another Testament of the Christ. |

Why I am a Mormon
I am Mormon because it has given me and my family the opportunity to learn
the true meaning and the best example of being Christ like on the planet. We
are being guided by Gods' Plan of Salvation in the spirit of Love. I th sa
removed all the doubt of what to do next in our life and has established a
common goal in our family for doing the Lords work. In my heart I know this
is the true church of God. I have been a part of several different religious
groups and now feel that I am home. Our happiness depends on finding this
truth. It is not the money and things that I once sought out. With the help
of Jesus, I am attaining this happiness and love that I have always wanted
and want this for all. I will continue to follow Gods plan for me and my
Family and wish that we all pause for a minute and embrace truly being happy
while here on earth. For me this means following the plan and putting
nothing before God and keeping Gods commandments daily in my every day walk. |

Why I am a Mormon
I was always searching for a faith that I could believe 100. I attending
numerous churches, vacation bible school, and parochial schools, but I often
found more questions that answers. I was 17 when a church I had barely
heard of hit my radar three times in the same week. I did a report on the
Mormon Battalion, saw an anti-Mormon film, and met two Mormons at a driving
school. I was intrigued that what I saw in the anti-Mormon film was
completely opposite from what I researched on the Battalion and what I saw
in the members I met. I set out to find out the truth. I began attending
activities with my new friends. It wasn't any one event but a culmination of
many that turned my heart. I was so impressed by not only the dedication of
the youth but in their actions as well. At one event I came to a swim party
, and I didn't know that the youth followed a dress code of wearing a one
piece bathing suit. I had a very sexy two piece. I realized quickly that I
was inappropriately dressed, but instead of singling me out, a leader gave
me a t-shirt to wear. I was still going to just leave, but ALL of the youth
girls put on t-shirts to make me feel comfortable. Nobody made fun of me. I
had never seen such an act of Christian love directed at me before, even
with all my time in parochial school and attending various churches. That
simple act softened my heart and I began to take the missionary discussions.
I fought with the missionaries and questioned everything they said. I had
to be sure. The turning point was when I quoted something and the Elder
asked me where my quote was from, and I realized that it was from a
catechism book written by man - and not the scriptures. I was humbled, and
from that point on I answered all questions with answers from the scriptures
and confirmation in my prayers, and I received the answers I sought. I know
now without a doubt that this is His true church. He has testified of this
truthfulness to my very soul. |

Why I am a Mormon
Being somewhat of a religious person on and off in my childhood to early
adult years, I always had a belief in God. After going through some very
difficult times in my mid 20s and turning away from substance abuse, I found
a new life in Christ and served as a bible study director of over 100
single adults in a Baptist church. My love for the Savior grew as I provided
my time and talents in this position.
After a reconciliation with a former spouse, we grew together in the church
I was attending and had lots of friends. It was about two years later in my
membership with the Baptist church that my spouse had shared her testimony
of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The testimony brought on
such a strong feeling of attack from the adversary that I nearly passed out
and felt the oppression of the evil one Lucifer. I knew where this was
coming from and also had a belief already that when I tried to search for
and find truth, he typically was there to try and thwart my path and put
doubt in to me.
After weeks had passed and I considered investigating the church, I was
bombarded with anti-mormon literature from friends and caring people who
felt I was loosing my way. While I prayed and studied in faith knowing the
Lord would not lead me astray, it was the LDS missionaries who provided the
guiding beacon I needed to find my testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-day Saints.
I was asked many times to read the Book of Mormon which eventually I started
to do and noticed I felt a peaceful spirit which opened up my mind and my
spirit to a greater understanding of our Savior and redeemer. It was through
reading I started to feel this was something more than what a man could
ever come up with on this own, as many accused the prophet Joseph Smith of
doing when he was trying to restore the Lord's church here again on earth.
I was soon converted as the spirit testified to me of the truthfulness of
this church. |

Why I am a Mormon
I was raised in a Christian home. But at about age 12 I started questioning
everything about religion. I became agnostic, and even became and atheist
when I was 14 for about 4 years. Then when I was 18, I embarked upon a
spiritual quest. I researched and partook in pretty much every type of
Christianity that exists. I also went to New Thought churches, was part of
the New Age. I studied and was involved in Buddhism, Zen, all forms of
Eastern Religions. As well as the Earth based ones such as Native
Spirituality, Wicca, and Druidism. Although all of these had some piece of
the truth, nothing seemed to be the whole package. This I found frustrating.
It seemed my soul wanted the whole package. One day after I had exhausted
every possible path out there, a friend told me about the The Church Of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I didn't have a clue what it was. It did
sound intriguing. I then got out of the library the book called "The Idiots
Guide To Mormonism".
I read the whole thing in 2 days. Then I met with the Missionaries, and
tried out a service. I wasn't expecting much. From my experience all
churches fit into 2 categories. Very lively with big bands and lots of music
, or more boring, heavy, solemn churches where there are just hymns. I was
expecting the latter. However, much to my complete surprise this church did
not fit into either category. My experience of the Spirit was higher at this
church than I had ever experienced before. Way more happiness, love and
peace. I investigated it for 4 weeks then got baptized.
It truly was what I had been looking for my whole life! I still marvel that
I found this. As I was getting to know it, I just kept feeling the Spirit
telling me this is the Truth. The whole package. And yes I can honestly say
it will be 3 years next month, and I do believe this church is the true
church of God and Jesus Christ. The structure is perfect. I know that it
truly is the Kingdom of God on the earth. |

Why I am a Mormon
Because this is the church where I have been able to learn the most. Where
all things I have learned in the past about God have become real -- where I
am surrounded with great examples. Where I can have the best examples of
daily living for my minor child -- where God’s standards are not watered
down, but encouraged just as He declared them in the Old and New Testament.
Where those same standards are reinforced clearly for today’s life in the
Book of Mormon.
In this church, I am encouraged daily and shown how to listen to God’s
desires for my life, and encouraged to make God’s desires a part of me. I
have learned that it is possible to search the mind of God and receive an
answer by personal revelation. I have learned to pay attention to God’s
commandments, study Christ’s examples, and encourage the Holy Spirit to
live within me. I have been able to see constant miracles in my life. Here I
understood that faith is the foundation of power and the precursor of hope.
Here I have been able to see order in the continuation of the organization
of the church as God designed it from the beginning. In this church I have
seen obedience, a willingness to live Christ’s gospel and an understanding
of the plan of salvation in action. I have not been told what to do. Instead
, I have been shown, and the opportunities for service within the church are
available to each one of us by the willingness of each one to allow
eachother to serve. The precepts of God have been shown to me in the
scriptures, and I have been allowed to govern myself. I now fully understand
free will or free agency and the power of the atonement/Christ’s death on
the cross for me. I have also learned the value of being self suficient and
the rewards that come from it. As a woman, mother and wife, I have been
given a place of respect and love, with children who are taught to
appreciate the value of a woman and mother mostly by the example, behaviour
and respect of the men. |

After a long and serious search, I found validation to what I believe is
true. I live the gospel, as best I can, and I recieve constant blessings. I
cannot deny what I live and see every week. Building a testimony is not an
easy chore, it requires living and experiencing the principles and see for

Why I am a Mormon
I had previously studied several creeds and denominations searching for the
truth and had come to the conclusion that there was not a true church of
Jesus Christ on the Earth, until the missionaries knocked on my door in
November of 1981 and presented The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day
Saints to me. I was baptized in the evening on December 27, 1981 in the
baptismal font at the Wilmette Stake, in Illinois, USA. I received the Holy
Ghost by the laying on hands and was confirmed a member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the same place and on the same evening.
A series of previous events led me to take this extremely important and
significant step up in the ladder that leads to my eternal salvation and
exaltation. After this event, I have come to find true faith, peace, joy and
happiness beyond description. I now know who I am, where I came from, what
is my life's purpose, where I am going after my passing, I am certain about
the resurrection of human beings, and I have made eternal covenants with My
Heavenly Father that will allow me, if I faithfully keep those covenants, to
return to My Heavenly Father and live eternally in Celestial Kingdom with
my family. |

Why I am a Mormon
In my youth my Grandmother was the primary religious influence in my life
and I would attend church with her. We attended the Assembly of God and
later a Pentecostal church. During my late teen years I began searching for
more. I studied various religions. I joined the Air Force at age 17 and
attended several different services during basic training. I studied Eastern
religions, Catholicism, Judaism, and various protestant denominations. I
met a strange guy while in basic training that taught me things that were
quite different, but intriguing. I met with the missionaries once while we
were at basic training. At first, I was skeptical of their message. However,
as I learned more, it all seemed very familiar to me. They gave me The Book
of Mormon to read and asked me to pray about it and ask Heavenly Father if
it was the true Word of God. I followed their admonishment and I was reading
in the 32nd chapter of book of Alma and had a very good feeling. I knelt
down to pray about it and received a very strong witness by the Holy Ghost
that the book was the Word of God. I was baptized into the Church of Jesus
Christ on Easter Sunday! |

One year ago, my wife and I met the missionaries on a bus, which opens the
gate to the gospel. We started our way to the eternal life and heavenly
father. We feel so happy for the baptism and great blessings in our lives. I
believe that our church is true and I know that I am blessed all the time.

I'm a convert to the Church who felt the spirit when the missionaries
tracted me out. Everything that the missionaries shared with me rang true to
my beliefs, and I eagerly entered the waters of baptism. My testimony
continues to grow as I receive answers to my prayers and feel the influence

Why I am a Mormon
I was tired of the way my life was and was looking for something more. That
is when I saw a tv spot for a mormon video. I ordered it and then looked up
a local church and asked for someone to come and teach me. I always felt
good when I saw those commercials and knew a few Mormons. When the Sister
Missionaries taught me the gospel and then asked me to pray to know if what
they were teaching was true, I did it. I didn't receive an answer right away
but when I walked into the chapel for the first time, it felt like I was

Why I am a Mormon
I originally contacted the missionaries because I saw an ad on T.V. about
the book of Mormon and was curious as to what another testament of Jesus
Christ could possibly be, so I called the 800 number to get one. The
missionnaries came by and we had several discussions which always ended with
them telling me to pray about the book of Mormon and Joseph Smith to get a
testimony of my own. No other religion had ever told me to pray about the
information I was given, so I was intrigued, and I did it. The Holy Ghost
testified to me of the truth of this Church and That Joseph Smith was a
Prophet of God, quietly, like a whisper and a hug. There were no Angels an
trumpets, no big fanfare or Angelic Choir sing "Hallelujah," yet it was just
a powerful message to me as if there had been all that and more. When the
Spirit testifies to you there is no more any room for doubt, so needless to
say I was baptized into the Church and am now blessed to be raising my
children in the same Church I was baptized 15 years ago. The blessings just
keep coming. |

Why I am a Mormon
Growing up, I knew that there was something “missing” from the church I
attended with my parents. As soon as I got my drivers license, I started “
church hopping”. I don’t know how many churches I tried, but they all had
something that didn’t seem right to me. I eventually met the missionaries.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints had everything that the
other churches had been missing. Everything about this religion was what I
had been seeking!
I love how this church focuses on living as Jesus lived. I am constantly
trying to improve myself and to teach my children gospel principles. Knowing
this is Jesus’ true church gives me so much guidance in how to live my
life! It is unrealistic to have a life without challenges, but my faith
helps me to get through the challenges! |

The missionaries tricked me during the first visit to our home. They gave
what is called a 'baptismal challenge'..."If we teach you the things we
believe, and you find out they are true, will you be baptized?". I thought
heck, how will they ever prove to me their beliefs are true... so I said yes.
Later I found out they believe much of what I had always believed and that
the Church had no paid clergy and did not pass the plate. I was pretty
floored, thinking I would never find a church like that (I am a third
generation preacher's kid). Then I received a personal revelation that I was
supposed to join this Church and move forward in faith.
My desire was simply to be a better husband, a better father, a better
person (this was in 1985). |

Why I am a Mormon
The missionaries came knocking on our door one cold winter day and my mom
set up some meetings with them. I tried to miss the discussions and baby sat
for my neighbor when I could. I did receive most of the eight lessons and
when they asked me to get baptised , The spirit had me saying yes. And I
have been an active member every since.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by staying active in church activities, loving my husban and
four children and eight grand kids. Serving others and doing lots of Temple
work for my family and many others in our ward. |

Why I am a Mormon
I was baptized and became a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints (the Mormon Church) in 1997. I am thankful that my awesomest wife
invited two missionaries into our home to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ
and the Book of Mormon with our family. I grew up in a very spiritual home,
so I knew that Jesus was my savior. I grew up reading and learning the Bible
. Once I graduated High School and left home I didn't really concern myself
much with God or Jesus unless I needed something, then I would just pray
alittle and hope for the best. I never felt that I had a personal
relationship with Jesus and I did not remember ever being baptized. Most
importantly I always felt that there was something missing, granted I wasn't
very proactive in finding out what it was. The missionaries shared the Book
of Mormon with me, asked me to read James 1:5-6 (King James Version of the
Holy Bible) then they challenged me to read the Book of Mormon. I read a
portion of it, and then asked in faith for a manifestation by the Holy
Spirit to show me if the Book of Mormon and the Joseph Smith story of the
restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ were true. I recieved my answer
and I knew that I needed to be baptized and confirmed a member of the LDS
Church. I am a Mormon, I am a Christian. I know that our Father in Heaven
speaks to us today through modern day revelation. I believe that I can get
nearer to God by abiding by the presepts set forth in the Book of Mormon and
the Holy Bible. |

Why I am a Mormon
I am grateful for the missionaries that taught me the gospel and for the
peace of mind the gospel brings to me in knowing where I come from and what
the purpose of life is, and where we go when we leave this life. |

Why I am a Mormon
Why? That requires a moment of reflection and thought. I'm a Mormon because
I find great peace in the doctrines of this religion. I feel truth burn in
my heart when I study the Book of Mormon. The Scriptures testify to me that
this church contains all the necessary principles and ordinances necessary
to attain eternal salvation and exaltation. This church teaches truth. It
exemplifies Christ like love and character. I understand the purpose of life
. I understand Heavenly Father's plan for all of us. I feel the Savior's
love in my life. I feel the Holy Spirit guiding, directing and protecting me
every day. That's why I am a Mormon. No other religion offers and gives to
me what this Church does. And nothing on earth could ever begin to replace
the wonderful blessings of belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints. |

Why I am a Mormon
I received a witness of the truthfulness of this church and the gospel of
Jesus Christ when I was about twelve years of age while attending a
priesthood meeting. I remember the song we were singing and feeling fill my
being as witnessed by the Holy Ghost. Little did I know how much that would
mean to me in the next few years. Now, after serving a mission, becoming a
father and a grandfather, my perspective has become even more refined and I
want to be with my family for time and for all eternity more than ever. |
