Open the green caps, you will see the solenoids that controls water flow.
Open it manually to see if you can have water flow at corresponding heads.
If not, most likely a water pipe problem. Go find a plummer.
For electrical problem (most likely cause), find your control panel for your
irrigation system (mostly on garage wall). Read your manual or trouble
shooting guide (google it) for your irrigation system. You will find
instructions on how to test the system with a cheap multimeter. Control
panel can be tested through DC voltage output to see if the output voltage
is enough to drive the solenoids. You should disconnect the wires before you
test the voltage. If low, buy a new panel and install it on your own.
The solenoids can be easily tested using wires at the control panel through
electrical impedance to see if there is any short circuiting. If you find
reduced impedance at one or more solenoids, test the impedance at the
specific solenoids. If the one or more solenoids still show low impedance,
buy new ones and install. If not, you are most likely left with an
underground wire short circuit problem (ticked wire most likely). This will
be hard to deal with by yourself since you do not know where the underground
wire lies and do not have proper equipment to find it. Go find a pro. He
will attach a signal transmitter at the solenoids end and use a remote
detector to find the path of the underground wire and see where the signal
weakens and/or disappears. Once found, dig the wire out and repair the
damage. Simple job as a ticked wire should cost you around $200 or less.
Hope this can help. |
