Yesterday, I saw a video on 2HBH. I know it is not related to serve.
It mentioned step in with your front foot land on your your heel then rock
your weight forward on to it. It helps transferring your weight into the
shot.
I guess I had that in mind. When I served in our double match, I started to
lift my toes up (front foot) then rock forward. Almost all the pros do
this. And I have tried it in the past, but never felt any difference.
But yesterday, it kind of kicked on the first try for some reasons. It
gives
me a really nice and easy forward momentum. Before that I usually toss the
ball kind of behind. Many people told me I need to toss the ball into the
court and go after it. I tried that and it felt forced and rushed. With the
rocking motion, it feel so much smoother and not forced at all. I found
myself land inside the court naturally.
I have to mention that I have to change my toss a little to the front to
match it. Before I feel I toss the ball in front and chase the ball.
You may want to give it a try. It may click. I think really relax yourself
and feel the rock and roll motion and feel the weight transfer. Let the
weight transfer happen naturally instead of forcing it. It will bring you
to the ball instead of chasing the ball. Don't hit any harder. Actually
softer and more relax may be the key.

Yes. That is it.
I have copied the rocking front foot in the past. But I was only pretend
doing that just for show and did no get the real benefit. Like I hit
forehand stop then do a fake shoulder turn and follow through to make it
pretty. I am a fake "formist".
Yesterday, I got lucky on the first try. First I think I toss the ball a
little in front by accident almost and I transfer the weight and timed it
with the Rocking or rolling of the front foot.
Rocking the feet help have a smooth weight transfer. The best way I can
describe it is I felt like a 不倒翁。
Try rock the foot on 2hbh. It also feels good.

Haha. Does he has a good serve? If not, He could be a fake formist like me.
I played a super athletic dude on Monday. Before we even started. A ball
from Next court rolled near him. He kick the ball with super smooth motion
with perfect speed and the guy on the next court was able to catch the ball
without moving a step right around the shoulder! I could not throw a ball
that accurate with that much control.
Anyway, he serve drive me nuts too. He bounce the ball and then hold the
ball and racquet together and pause like Sharapova does. But he pause like 3
seconds! I guess he is either praying or picture the rainbow flight path of
his serve.
That is not the worth part. The worth part is his serve is like 110 mph. I
have no idea but it is crazy fast. Either ace or double fault.

I was trying to do this a couple weeks ago, however it threw off all my
serve fluidity and then gave up. Problaby I need to practice more to get use
to it.

To me, the weight transfer comes naturally when I toss into the court.
I didn't have to do anything special. I know it will be more powerful.
However I still prefer not to toss into the court. The fault rate is
too high. Too low error margin.

Theory 1: The more front your toss, the more you will hit down, fast and
more error.
Theory 2: The more front you are, it is easier to get into the court. If
you step on the service line, serving will be a piece of cake.
I was a firm believer or theory 1. But now I think both theory is right.
The theory 1 is based on hitting down. If you still hit up and out. you can
take the true advantage of theory 2. All pros does it.
But it is harder to master for sure.
