College players may have played USTA open tournaments and therefore be
assigned a ranking in the computer system.
College players can also play ITF futures and get a ATP ranking as well. Div
I, II and III also have their own rankings for players. So it's kind of a
gray area.

Not really. They usually play as a team within their own league or division
. As for invidual players, only the top ranked are qualified to compete for
the titles.

the highest USTA rated player from China in USA is 4.5!
