BREAKING NEWS: Uber CEO confirms 3,000 additional job cuts and 45 office
closures in email to employees two weeks after initial round of layoffs
Dara Khosrowshahi confirmed to employees on Monday 45 offices were closing
In the first week of May, the company laid off 3,500 in a Zoom call
The additional cuts mean it will have dropped nearly 7,000 from its 22,000
global workforce
One of the offices closing is in San Francisco and has more than 500
employees
The cuts do not apply to drivers - they are not considered employees because
they are gig worker
Uber rides were down 80% in April since last year
The company was already trying to cut costs when the pandemic hit
