Meyer requested. I never did such kind of blood tests before. I asked the
lady in the front desk: "I don't have any insurance, could you tell me how
much these tests will cost?" And she checked the computer for a while and
told me the total payment is $75. I felt a little surprised about that. To
be honest, I thought it should be several hundred dollars. So I repeated to
ask her: "is it the total payment?" She said " it is the total payment." I
asked her again: " should I get any other bill?" She told me " No".
And then I went to the drawing blood room. Another lady there. I asked her
again how much these tests will cost me? She said she was not sure about
that, probably I would receive another bill from LabCorp. I immediately told
her, the lady on the front desk just told me, $75 is my total bill, no
other bill will be delivered to me. I told the lady in the drawing blood
room: " I can't draw blood before she asks the lady on the desk about the
cost again. Then I followed with her to ask the lady on the desk again.That
lady confirmed again:" there is no any other bill from LabCorp. She let me
don't worry ". Then I let the blood work done.
( I don't know the lady's name, but she is the person who received my $75
credit card payment on April 8, 2013 before I checked in the blood drawing
room; The drawing blood nurse's name can be found from LabCorp records or
Carolina Concept P.A. records).
You can't imagine how much I was shocked when I received a big bill from
LabCorp who charges me $4248 for the blood test. I don't know why I was
cheated so deeply and so much. I hope someone can give me a help. This is a
nightmare. I don't think I am responsible for such a payment. |

地方怎么可能知道化验要多少钱。自费的话应该早就跟医生说。现在看看能不能和
labCorp 商量下。

read it, you will see you are not alone, there are a lot more horrible
stories reported by that article.
Based on the Time magazine article, you can Google some agencies dedicated
to helping people like you, you need expert help to deal with those greedy
firms. |

Even you sue the front desk receptionist, you can not win this case.
There is some misunderstanding btw you and her --- she could say she
believed $75 was the total cost you should pay for drawing the blood, which
is true.
We are both Chinese, I should help you. I hate to say this, but it is more
likely your fault to misunderstand the payment system of American medical
cost.
I had a lesson when I first came here ---- I bought a laptop because the
store staff said " you can return it any time if you do not like it". But
when I return it, they charged me 10% re-stocking fee. This is a common
sense. Everybody knew it, but I did not at that time.
You get to know the culture here. We are still learning. |

就是一个典型事情，你没有很多收入的话就告诉他们走low income，他们都会做，然后
你可以去州里看看有没有什么programme，还有律师可以帮忙还价，总之有很多路子走
，你不要自己处理如果不懂的话。
