LOS ANGELES (MarketWatch) — Shares of Facebook Inc. and other social-media
companies may be active Friday evening coming off Facebook’s trading debut
in a $16 billion initial public offering during the day session.
Facebook shares FB +2.21% ahead of the late trading session were up 5.6% at
$40.11. After a Nasdaq delay of about 30 minutes in the anticipated start
time, Facebook’s shares opened at $42.05 from their IPO price of $38 a
share.

Facebook’s sale of $16 billion worth of shares that valued the company at
more than $100 billion marked one of the U.S. market’s largest IPOs. Read

During the session, shares of Zynga Inc. ZNGA -12.94% came under pressure.
Trading in the games maker, whose titles including “FarmVille” and “
CityVille” are featured on Facebook’s platform, had been halted twice,
with the first halt taking place after the stock suddenly dropped 13%. More

With the halts lifted, Zynga shares were off 12% at $7.25.
Shares of other social-media companies that have gone public over the last
year may come into focus Friday evening. In dayside action, LinkedIn Corp.
LNKD -5.99% shares were down 4.4% at $100.39 and Groupon Inc. GRPN -6.55%
slumped 6.5% to $11.61. Pandora Media Inc. P -5.78% declined 5.3% to $9.96.
Also, U.S.-listed shares of Renren Inc. RENN -16.19% , called by some as
the “Facebook of China,” slid 13% to $5.41. Shares of GSV Capital Corp.
GSVC -16.52% , whose tech-sector investments include Facebook and Zynga,
dropped 17% to $13.45.

Analysts say Facebook’s IPO will be seen as a gauge for the market’s

U.S. stocks had swung between slight gains and losses following Facebook’s
debut, but worries about the possible exit by Greece from the euro zone

The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA -0.49% fell 52 points, or 0.4%, to 12
,390. The S&P 500 Index SPX -0.62% fell 0.5% to 1,298.60 and the Nasdaq
