possibly helping them finance a deal to buy Yahoo Inc's core business, The
Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday, citing a person familiar with the
matter.
Google (mitbbs) and prospective partners have held preliminary discussions but have
not come up with a formal proposal, and Google (mitbbs) may end up deciding not to
pursue a bid, the source said.
It is not clear which private equity firms Google has spoken to, the WSJ
said.

this was simply rumor to induce buying so that
the rumor mongers can unload their inventory.
This is confirmed by the latest data:
YHOO, 20111021, 16.1100, -0.1075,
YHOO, 20111020, 16.2200, -0.3467,
There is nothing to justify a big upside price move
in YHOO. In fact, if this were to occur, it would
likely be a short-selling opportunity for the bears
as I expect the readings to turn very negative as to
reach or surpass the threshold for a SELL signal.
Like I said, most of the time, it's manipulation and
disinformation, designed to sucker the gullible public.

YHOO's $16 price reminds me of something that happened
quite some time ago.
At that time, Microsoft offered to buy Yahoo, if I recall
correctly for something like $32 (in any case in the low
$30s) and I was asked by a very influential and powerful
entity (whose name I shall not reveal) what I thought of
the offer.
I took a look at the forecast on YHOO and saw it was very
bearish. So I said, if I were Yang or Yahoo, I would take
the offer without hesitation. I then did some calculation
and found that the FMV for YHOO was $16/share. So I added
that if I were Steve Ballmer, I would not make the offer,
but simply wait for YHOO to drop to $16 to pick it up, if
I feel YHOO was a must have. I have not done new analysis
but I suspect that the FMV for YHOO is now likely below $16
per share.
