Role Title: Scientist / Associate Scientist, Bioinformatics
Reports to: Associate Director, Bioinformatics
Location: Shanghai, GSK R&D
Role Purpose：
This position must be in place to ensure the basic bioinformatics function
and TCM database support in RDC.
Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities：
To apply modern bioinformatics tools to integrate, mine, analyze and
visualize proprietary or public data including omics and clinical data. The
main objective is to facilitate our discovery performance unit to indentify
new target and understand disease mechanism through data integration and
pathway modelling. Responsibility includes database development, algorithm
implementation, some tool development and statistics analysis. Many projects
will require collaboration with biological and chemical scientists.
Complexity:
Large workload with short timeline is expected. Working in a diversified and
dynamic environment.
Specialised Knowledge:
Master's degree with 3+ years relevant experience, or PHD’s degree with 0-3
years relevant experience;
Majored in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related field.
Basic Requirements:
Data analysis and mining skill. Familiar with Perl, R, or Java. Good
knowledge on relational databases, and UNIX operating systems. Good written
and verbal communication skills. Training in algorithm development is a plus.
Preferred Requirements:
Some statistics knowledge is preferred. |
