Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of the Cancer Surveillance Analytic Team, the
Junior Surveillance Analyst is a temporary position and will serve primarily
as a trainee position. This position will assist with the data analysis and
other activities for the Cancer Projections Network project which is funded
by the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC) The main aim of this
project is to develop standardized projection methods and increase
analytical capacity within the Cancer Surveillance community. As the Junior
Surveillance Analyst you will be responsible for:
•Assisting with the data analysis for in the evaluation of cancer
projections methodologies.
•Testing statistical packages to calculate cancer projections.
•Assisting with creating cancer projections and other reports.
•Assisting with other CPAC funded project work and departmental work
as required.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in
statistics, mathematics or a related field; a Master’s degree would be
considered an asset. Must have less than two (2) years of work experience in
cancer surveillance. Above average communication and writing skills are
required. Must possess strong analytical skills with knowledge of
statistical analysis. Experience with statistical software packages (such as
SAS or R) would be desirable.
