SEATTLE -- A 19-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries early Friday
when he fell 30 feet from one of the fenced-off structures at Gas Works
Park, according to the Seattle Police Department.
The accident happened around 5:20 a.m. when two men climbed over a fence and
onto a walkway and one of the men fell through a gap in the walkway,
according to police.
The injured man's friend called 911, and he was transported to Harborview
Medical Center.
Last spring, two men were injured within two weeks of each other while
climbing old fuel tanks at Gas Works Park.
On May 12, 2012, a 25-year-old man was taken to Harborview in stable
condition after falling 10 feet off a fuel tank. According to police, he
would have fallen another 50 feet if a metal platform hadn't broken his fall
and also his leg.
On May 25, 2012, a 19-year-old man fell 30 feet off a fuel tank after
scaling a fence topped with razor wire, according to police. He was taken to
Harborview in critical condition. |
