This year it says Sept.4 is the First Day Secondary Staggered Start. Sept. 5
is the first day of full school. So should my kid go to school on Sept. 4?

Staggered Start 的意思，但前面还说 "First Day Secondary" 不知道。

New grades in schools; staggered start for middle and high schools
After over two years of planning, Lake Washington schools open this fall
with a new grade configuration - grades K-5 elementary schools, 6-8 middle
schools and grades 9-12 high schools. The change was made for academic
reasons - giving ninth graders a better understanding that their work counts
toward graduation and college admission - and space reasons. The district
needs additional space in elementary schools and had more space available in
some of its high schools.
To give the grades new to a school a good start, secondary schools in the
district will have a staggered start, with some students starting on
September 4 and others on September 5. In most middle schools, the sixth and
seventh grades will attend school on September 4. They will be joined by
eighth grade on September 5. In the high schools, the same pattern follows
with ninth and tenth graders. Check your school's website or the district
website to make sure you have the specific schedule and program for students
in your student's middle or high school. Note: all elementary students will
start school on September 5. |
