Title:Clearing the Sky’s: What are the different kind of cloud platforms
out there?
Speaker: Chris E. Avis, Sr. IT Evangelist, Microsoft
Abstract: Cloud Computing is all the rage these days. But many people still
don’t have a firm grasp on what cloud computing really is. Little do they
know they are likely using cloud computing and services and have been for a
decade or more. In fact, there are different kinds of cloud computing and
they serve different business segments and customers. In this talk we will
try to clearly define the primary cloud computing environments and who will
make sue of them and why.
Bio: Chris started his career with Microsoft during the Windows 95 launch as
a contractor. In 1997, Chris became a full time employee with Microsoft and
performed client-server networking connectivity support. In 2001, Chris
took on the role of IT Evangelist and began speaking to IT Professionals
about the products, technology, and solutions that Microsoft has to offer.
Though Chris prefers to speak to live audiences, he has embraced social
networking and blogging as a means of connecting with IT professionals
around the world.

Title: The Private Cloud Journey and Your Business
Speaker: Paul Morse, Director of Cloud Systems, US Micro PC
Abstract: Most organizations go through somewhat distinct phases getting to
Private Cloud. Each phase can affect a business in different ways depending
on a variety of factors. This talk briefly explains the major phases and
looks at how they can affect a business. This is a vendor-agnostic
presentation that is assured to have you thinking about Virtualization and
Private Cloud in new ways. Plus, there will be a brief new product
announcement at this event.
Bio: Long and varied technical and marketing history at companies like
Boeing and Microsoft across many industry segments. Currently at US Micro
having fun creating unique hardware solutions that significantly reduce the
entry price-point for Private Cloud and NoSQL environments.

Title: Amazon AWS is awesome and how to build one for yourself
Speaker: Ye Wen, Senior Cloud Platform Architect, Eucalyptus Systems
Abstract: Amazon AWS is a disrupting cloud service that has changed the way
of managing IT resources for many businesses. It becomes the de-facto
standard in the infrastructure-as-a-service industry. In this talk, I will
show why you need to build an AWS-like cloud for yourself and how to do that
using the open source software, Eucalyptus. I will also briefly explain the
software architecture of Eucalyptus, and the way you, as a software
developer, can contribute.
Bio: Ye Wen considers himself a system builder with strong interests in
massively distributed systems, which manifest most prominently as "Cloud" at
current stage. He's especially interested in distributed storage and
database. Ye Wen is currently working on Eucalyptus, a widely deployed, open
source, infrastructure-as-a-service software platform, with a title called
"senior cloud platform architect", which he does not know what it really
means. Before joining Eucalyptus, he worked on Android mobile platform at
Google. Ye Wen received his doctoral degree at University of California,
Santa Barbara. His thesis topic was also about massively distributed systems
, but composed by much smaller components, compared to "Cloud".
